The Technical Accounting Manager of Share Based Compensation will join the Technical Accounting and Reporting team, focusing on share-based compensation and equity accounting processes, including transactional, accounting close, internal controls, and financial reporting. The role involves researching accounting guidance from FASB and SEC, preparing SEC filings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a dedication to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities also involve driving process improvements and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal control procedures, thus playing a key role in external reporting and the share-based compensation accounting close process. The team deals with numbers daily, supporting infrastructure, dealing in automation, building solutions, and providing accurate, insightful financial information to empower our business lines.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent required.
  • 6+ years accounting experience, preferably from a Big 4 public accounting firm.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills and ability to manage priorities.
Good to have:
  • Experience with SAP ECC, Equity Edge Online, Workiva Wdesk and/or Tableau.

Your Career

Palo Alto Networks has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Accounting Manager of Share Based Compensation to join our Technical Accounting and Reporting team. We are looking for someone with strong technical accounting skills, who is a great collaborator, and is passionate about delivering quality results and driving continual improvement in a dynamic, high-growth environment. The position will report within the Technical Accounting & Reporting team and will play a key role in our external reporting and share-based compensation accounting close process.

Your Impact

  • Manage the share-based compensation and equity accounting processes, including transactional, accounting close, internal controls and financial reporting

  • Research accounting guidance from the FASB, SEC and other regulatory bodies to evaluate the impact of complex share-based compensation arrangements

  • Drive operational excellence by identifying, proposing, and leading process improvements to successful completion

  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal control procedures

  • Prepare and review SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K) and financial information in earnings release materials

  • Partner with cross-functional teams on key areas of responsibility and assist with special projects, as needed

Qualifications

Your Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent required

  • 6+ years of progressive accounting experience in the high-tech industry, preferably from a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or publicly-held global technology company. Public company, SEC reporting and SOX compliance experience is required

  • Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem resolution skills, ability to manage priorities and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Self-starter who operates proactively with high attention to details, and strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Intellectually curious, and is passionate about their subject matter expertise and emerging trends

  • Proactively seeks to improve processes and implement best in class solutions, raise quality and productivity

  • High proficiency with MS Office and Google Workplace suites. Experience with SAP ECC, Equity Edge Online, Workiva Wdesk and/or Tableau a plus

  • Historical experience with operational and technical accounting for stock based compensation

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $130,000 - $170,000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
