General Summary:
Places, tracks, and expedites purchase orders and day-to-day procurement activities to support fulfillment of materials, parts, and other supply needs of internal stakeholders. Manages supplier relationship to send requests, negotiate costs, and ensure promise dates are met. Handles receiving issues, A/P issues, material returns, and non-conforming materials. Interface with multiple internal stakeholders (including Program & Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Receiving, Quality, Customer Service Administration, Contracts, Legal, and other Procurement disciplines.)
Reviews requisitions or MRPs to anticipate internal supply and demand requirements and secure timely delivery of parts, components, or services. Works across teams to understand requirements, execute purchase orders, and address issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate's degree.Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of industry specific buyer or procurement experience is preferred.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists with placement of purchase orders and builds understanding of various tools (e.g., Oracle, Agile, MS, custom software) to help input data and information into systems.
• Works under direction of senior team members to analyze straightforward material needs into rapid response systems for purchase orders.
• Tracks and fills open purchase orders to help ensure materials are received on time under close supervision.
• Assists with reviewing requisitions or material requirement plans (MRPs) to address supply needs (e.g., parts, components, services) and send requests to suppliers.
• Follows-up with suppliers as directed to address requirements and expedite needs for routine purchase order specifications and promise dates.
• Executes negotiated costs with suppliers to facilitate cost reductions with guidance.
• Identifies straightforward issues related to purchase orders and escalates to senior team members.
• Escalates needs for alternatives to obsolete or high cost parts under direction of senior team members.
• Executes individual priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with supervision.
• Works with team members and stakeholders to help execute straightforward purchase orders with guidance.
Level of Responsibility:
• Works under supervision and responsible for own tasks.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey basic, routine factual information about day-to-day activities to others who are fully knowledgeable in the subject area.
• Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department. Erroneous decisions, failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules and result in the re-allocation of some resources.
• Some tasks require multiple steps which must be performed in a specific order; directions or manuals can accurately document the steps necessary to perform the task.
• Some creativity may be required to troubleshoot technical problems or deal with novel circumstances.
• Deductive problem solving is required to solve moderately complex problems; most problems have defined processes of diagnosis/detection; some limited data analysis may be required.
