Niantic is seeking a talented and passionate Data Scientist to join our team. As a Data Scientist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and growth of our live games. You will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting large datasets to provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance our game's performance and user experience. Statistical proficiency and business intelligence experience are crucial for effective communication and data-driven decision-making. Familiarity with Looker is a big plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for improving gameplay, engagement, and monetization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including game designers, product managers, and engineers, to define and prioritize data-driven objectives and strategies.
  • Create and deliver regular reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain data models, algorithms, and statistical models to support predictive analytics and forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the game engineering team to ensure data quality, integrity, and availability for analysis.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data science and business intelligence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and stakeholders, including regular and reliable attendance and participation in meetings.
  • Required in-office 3 days on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related disciplines).
  • Solid understanding of business intelligence concepts, methodologies, and tools. Familiarity with Looker or similar business intelligence platforms is a plus.
  • Proven experience in data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or similar.
  • Ability to translate complex data findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hybrid environment and handle stress appropriately and/or ability to solve practical problems and be sufficiently adaptable to handle dynamic situations with little advance notice.
  • Experience working on cross-functional teams with ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communications, including synchronous interactions with others.
  • Passion for gaming and familiarity with Niantic games is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Japanese is also highly desirable.
