Database Developer (SQL and Teradata)

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a talented Database Developer to join our team. This role is crucial in designing, developing, and optimizing database solutions that support our business objectives. The Database Developer and Engineer will leverage their expertise in SQL, Teradata, and data visualization tools to enhance our data infrastructure and deliver high-quality data solutions.

Software Requirements

• Required Proficiency:

  • SQL and database programming: Advanced level, including stored procedures
  • Teradata: Advanced level, with performance tuning experience
  • Data visualization tools: Preferably Tableau

• Preferred Proficiency:

  • Informatica or similar ETL tools
  • Scripting in UNIX/Linux environment (shell scripting, Perl)

Overall Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize database solutions to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of database systems, particularly on Teradata.
• Develop and maintain data models and database designs to support business objectives.
• Create and maintain documentation for database solutions and processes.
• Participate in Agile development processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Programming Languages:

  • Required: SQL, Shell scripting, Perl

• Databases/Data Management:

  • Required: Teradata, Data Warehouse fundamentals
  • Preferred: Experience with data modeling and analysis

• Development Tools and Methodologies:

  • Required: Informatica or similar ETL tools
  • Preferred: Experience with Agile and Waterfall SDLC

Experience Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of hands-on data development experience.
• Proven experience in database design, data modeling, and data analysis.
• Experience with software development methodologies and tools.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Design and develop database solutions, including writing stored procedures and scripts.
• Optimize database performance and conduct regular maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data solutions align with business requirements.
• Participate in daily stand-up meetings and Agile sprints.
• Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Continuous professional development in database technologies and methodologies is encouraged.
