Job Description

The DevOps Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Business Unit (MBU) to support software development, build processes, and supporting systems for MBU products. The role involves collaborating with expert professionals to achieve development objectives and oversee software releases. Key responsibilities include maintaining and updating third-party dependencies on Windows and Linux platforms, troubleshooting issues in various environments, adjusting builds and packaging, addressing build and runtime failures, and proposing new solutions following best practices. The role requires working under the general supervision of a Senior Principal R&D Engineer.
Must have:
  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with build management and continuous integration software
  • Experience with Git
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with Windows operating system
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Rocky)
  • Ability to plan and complete high-quality work on schedule
  • Ability to quickly learn, troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
  • Understanding of YAML
  • Understanding of Conan package tool
  • Understanding of Visual Studio Code
  • Understanding of CMake build tool

SUMMARY
The DevOps Engineer will be part of the Mechanical Business Unit (MBU) to support the development of software, build processes, and supporting systems for MBU products. The DevOps Engineer will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to accomplish development objectives and oversee software releases. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains and updates third-party dependencies as needed on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues in development, testing and production environments.  
  • Works closely with development to adjust builds and packaging to changing requirements (e.g. compiler upgrades, product versioning, etc.). 
  • Investigates and works with engineers to address build and runtime failures  
  • Works collaboratively with others to anticipate future needs and technological evolutions and propose and implement new solutions following best practices to address. 
  • Performs other job-related duties that may be assigned by management from time to time.  
  • Works under the general supervision of a Senior Principal R&D Engineer. 
     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • Working experience with:
    • Build management and continuous integration software
    • Git
    • Python
    • Windows operating system

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g. Ubuntu, Rocky, etc.) 
  • Proven ability to plan and complete high-quality work on schedule 
  • Proven ability to quickly learn, troubleshoot and solve a problem 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Proven ability to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team 
  • An understanding of these tools
    • YAML
    • Conan package tool
    • Visual Studio Code
    • CMake build tool
