The Role:

The Director of People Operations will be responsible for overseeing total rewards (compensation, equity, and benefits enrollment), along with the HR operations, systems, and processes that drive efficiencies in order to scale globally. This position reports to the Chief People Officer. It is a key role that will build new approaches to deliver a great employee experience, and aim to implement global HR Operations strategies across all our countries (India, UK, US) as we continue to grow. We’re looking for someone who knows what is possible from a global HR operations, systems processes, and infrastructure perspective and is ready to help create this at CommerceIQ. The work you do here will have a noticeable and direct impact on the development of the company.

In this role you will help to ensure all core HR and Recruiting services work effectively and efficiently for our candidates, employees, and people managers (e.g. Recruiting, Onboarding, Transfers, Exits). You will also set goals and KPIs, simplify, optimize, and automate processes, implement robust knowledge management, and generally run an operationally excellent organization.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Mountain View, CA headquarters with 3 days per week required onsite.

What You'll Do:

  • Build critical HR infrastructure on a global scale that enables CommerceIQ’s future successful growth
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to direct and indirect reports across multiple regions to ensure global alignment.
  • Lead our efforts to streamline our HR systems and processes - improving operability of our HRIS system, automating workflows and approvals, and creating and monitoring audit controls for compliance and accuracy
  • Develop, evolve, implement and lead all People Operations functions, including onboarding / offboarding, compliance, program management, immigration, leave management, people analytics and systems
  • Own the delivery, documentation, and effectiveness of core People processes, systems of record, and communication protocols with other functions such as Finance, Payroll, and Legal
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations for global workforce
  • Build dashboards that use metrics and analytics to create insights and keep executives informed on progress and decisions through simple and effective communications, presentations, and people analytics

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years of progressive global HR experience in a high-growth environment
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • 5+ years in HR programs, data analytics and/or operations management
  • 3+ years experience as an HR systems administrator with HiBob, Paylocity, Carta, and/or Sequoia
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources/Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Development, or a related field
  • Progressive experience at a Series-C or later tech startup
  • Analytical skills (in Google Sheets, Excel, SQL, and/or more sophisticated tools) that will allow you to independently turn data into insights and separate signal from noise
  • Experience with both the administration and strategy of HR systems
  • Experience identifying, assessing, and implementing new HR systems
  • Experience integrating and optimizing those systems on an ongoing basis
  • Experience managing contracts, budgets, and vendors
  • Experience managing employee benefits enrollment
  • Strong understanding of payroll-related laws and regulations, as well as HR Compliance
  • Experience partnering with Finance to make payroll-related changes for employees
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to share complicated details about processes, programs, and company priorities clearly and concisely both written and verbally

CIQ Leadership Principles (LPs):  Success factors for the role include the following LPs

  • Deepdive: CIQr’s operate at all levels, stay connected to the details, audit frequently, and are skeptical when metrics and anecdote differ. They inspect and question details, this is different than micro-managing, but rather trust but verify. No task is beneath them.
  • GSD (Get Sh*t Done): CIQr’s move quickly, when they see something, they do something to action problems. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study, recognizing the difference between  “one-way and two-way” door decisions. Leaders value calculated risk taking, and strong bias for action.
  • Ownership: CIQr’s are owners. They take responsibility for challenges and problems and think long term. They act on behalf of the entire company, beyond just their own team. They never say “that’s not my job”.

Benefits & Perks:

  • Highly competitive pay, benefits, and early stage stock options
  • Unlimited PTO (US) in addition to 11 National paid holidays
  • Flexible work arrangement in our new Mountain View CA offices (3x onsite, 2x flex)
  • Monthly cell phone, internet, and gym/fitness reimbursement
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, and life insurance benefits
  • 401K plan, FSA, and HSA programs
  • Long-term and short-term disability

Compensation:

The typical base pay range for this role across the US is USD: $190,000 - $240,000/per year, this role is also eligible for a bonus and equity (bonus eligibility is based on company performance and personal performance).

This base pay range may be inclusive of several career levels at CommerceIQ and will be narrowed based on a number of factors including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location.
