Job Description

The onsite Environment Health & Safety Professional will work in collaboration with the CAE USA EHS team and serve as a site subject matter expert for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment, and implementing safety programs and policies at the CAE USA Tampa location. This role involves developing and implementing safety policies, conducting safety inspections, conducting risk assessments, providing training and education, investigating incidents, monitoring compliance, and collaborating with site management.
Must have:
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • U.S. citizenship due to contract requirements.
Good to have:
  • Strong knowledge of US health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Summary 

The onsite Environment Health & Safety Profession will work in collaboration with the CAE USA EHS team and serve as a site subject matter expert for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment, and implementing safety programs and policies at the CAE USA Tampa location.  

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create, update, and enforce EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.  

  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Perform regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.  

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.  

  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety.  

  • Incident Investigation: Investigate incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.  

  • Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company policies and report any non-compliance issues.  

  • Collaboration: Work closely with site management and individual business units to ensure a safe working environment.  Foster awareness on EHS lessons-learned at the site level by holding meetings or reviews. 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.  

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or aviation industry.  

  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

Preferred Skills 

  • Strong knowledge of US health and safety regulations (lock out tag out, fall protection, power industrial trucks).  

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Abily to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization.  

  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and risk assessments.  

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.  

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.  

 

Security Responsibilities 

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

  •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance. 

 

Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.  

 

Work Environment 

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
