Job Description

We are looking for a Lead VFX Artist specializing in Realtime and Unreal Engine 5. The role involves taking ownership of execution quality, driving improvements in VFX pipelines and technological solutions, and managing team resources. Responsibilities include fostering relationships with other departments, setting standards for VFX documentation, monitoring team performance, and conducting one-on-one sessions to support personal well-being. You will collaborate with HR and specialists on recruitment, onboarding, long-term goals, development plans, and mentorship. The ideal candidate will also recommend and conduct training sessions to enhance team expertise and soft skills.
Must have:
  • Experience creating real-time VFX for games
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine systems (Niagara, Scratchpad, Material Graph)
  • Knowledge of DCC software (3DS Max, Maya, Embergen, Houdini)
  • Proven ability to deliver stunning VFX
  • Experience with VFX pipelines
  • Understanding of asset integration and art technical qualities
  • Understanding of UE5 optimization and performance for VFX
  • Knowledge of VFX principles, timing, color theory, attention to detail
  • Ability to troubleshoot VFX/Art production pipelines
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Natural leadership and mentoring abilities
  • Organizational and delegation skills

Lead VFX Artist (Realtime, UE5)


Responsibilities:

• Take care of the quality of execution and drive improvements in pipelines and technological solutions used by the VFX team with the help of the team experts.
• Allocate/reallocate necessary people based on requests or needs.
• Encourage, develop and maintain relationships with other functions.
• Assist the team and set standards in creating project documentation and good practices specific to VFX.
• Monitor the function and its members, supporting them with the assistance of HR where necessary.
• Do 1-on-1 sessions with team members often to check on their personal well being.
• Collaborate with HR and Recruitment on the Recruitment and Onboarding processes.
• Collaborate with HR and specialists on setting and achieving long-term goals and development plans for team members, providing feedback when necessary.
• Mentor or assign mentors to team members in improvement areas.
• Recommend training sessions and conduct and set internal training sessions in any necessary areas of expertise or soft skills that require reinforcement.


Candidate Requirements:

• Experience creating real-time visual effects for games, ideally with experience in Unreal Engine systems (Niagara, Scratchpad, Material Graph…)
• Knowledge in industry standard DCC softwares (3DS Max, Maya, Embergen, Houdini, etc…)
• Proven ability to deliver stunning and technically proficient VFX
• Experience working with VFX pipelines
• Understanding of Asset Integration and Art technical qualities
• Understanding of optimization and performance in UE5 for VFX
• Knowledge of VFX principles, a keen sense of timing, color theory, and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to the VFX/Art production pipelines

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
• A natural leader. Ability to lead and mentor a team of VFX artists, helping with their growth and ensuring high-quality work, without damaging work-life balance.
• Proven organizational and delegation skills, with the ability to balance operational responsibilities and management tasks.
• Is an active listener and has the ability to diplomatically address feedback, risks, and concerns, while maintaining a solution-oriented approach.


Will be a plus:

• You have experience with both Realistic and Stylized VFX, or have experience working in Fantasy and Realistic VFX.
• You have experience in VFX for FPS/TPS action packed games for large public audiences.
• Is versed or has experience in Technical Art.
