The Loungefly Product Developer – Technical Design (Softlines) at Funko is responsible for the technical design of apparel and accessories from concept to production. This involves collaborating with the design team, creating detailed technical specifications, managing fit sessions, ensuring quality and cost targets are met, and communicating with overseas factories. The role requires expertise in garment construction, grading, and fit analysis, as well as strong communication and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities include creating tech packs, managing samples, troubleshooting production issues, and working with licensors for approvals. The position requires a 3-day in-office commitment in Burbank, CA.

The Product Developer – Technical Design (Softlines) will own all aspects of development from concept to production approval with a focus on technical design.
 
This position is based in Burbank, California and requires a 3-day commitment to being in office.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the tech design of apparel and cut & sew accessories from concept through production. Manage existing styles and make appropriate fit and development changes as needed.
  • Collaborate with the design team to interpret creative concepts and new bodies and translate them into detailed technical specs.
  • Create initial product tech packs for factories to include all relevant product instructions, materials, graded dimensional specifications if needed, BOM, tech drawings and construction notes.
  • Lead fit sessions, ensuring fit, sizing, construction and quality consistency is achieved. Evaluate garment fit and functionality and provide clear and actionable feedback to the factory to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Understand product costing and what elements/construction can change costing. Ensure product specked meets costing targets and margins in partnership with Sourcing team.
  • Spec garments before all fittings. Take and track notes to ensure final fit, quality, and construction meets brand quality standards. Cross-examine the sample against the tech pack and previous fit samples to ensure comments have been corrected.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fit, construction, and materials during the development and production process.
  • Communicate on a daily basis with overseas counterparts to ensure tasks are on track for styles at various stages during the development timeline.
  • Create licensor submission sheets and manage the submit process from request, to comments, to approval (lab dips, strike-offs, fabric and trims).
  • Manage proto and sampling process. Review all samples with the Product Development Manager, Creative partners and Sourcing partners and recommend next steps and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Ensure all styles are recorded through internal tracking system and status is kept up to date from concept to production.
  • Able to prioritize workload within a fast-paced environment. Can quickly adjust priorities based on last minute “quick strike” opportunities.
  • Work with Packaging Designer to request new packaging, provide updated legal and compliance information, and ensure licensor approval prior to production. Ensure special features and event-based information is included where required.
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Product Development, or a related field.
  • 4-5+ years of experience in technical design and development, with expertise in both apparel and accessories preferred.
  • Strong understanding of garment construction, grading, and workmanship principles.
  • Hands-on experience conducting fit sessions and providing technical recommendations.
  • Understanding and experience with apparel and accessories product development lifecycle.
  • Experience communicating and developing product with overseas and domestic factories.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to communicate within all levels of the organization (including C-Level) as well as with external partners, vendors and licensors.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams and comfortable working independently.
  • Must be team-oriented, open to taking direction, able to develop and implement strategies according to plans, monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments to achieve objectives.
  • Can handle multiple projects at once with the same degree of priority.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Excel. PLM experience a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
Funko offers a competitive compensation package with full benefits and a 401(K) plan with matching contributions from the company.  The starting base salary range for this position in the selected city is $73,600 - $92,000 annually. ​Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work. This role is eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives.
