Job Description

As a Senior Online Programmer at Cloud Imperium Games (CIG Turbulent), you'll collaborate on developing online features for Star Citizen, mentoring team members, and designing/implementing high-quality, bug-free code. Responsibilities include developing and testing code, optimizing performance, communicating with various stakeholders, identifying and resolving technical challenges, documenting designs, working with QA, providing internal support, and staying current with industry advancements. You'll also participate in code reviews, meetings, and knowledge sharing. The role requires extensive C++ experience in AAA game development and a strong understanding of online features and systems.
Must have:
  • 8+ years C++ programming experience
  • AAA game industry experience (PC/Console)
  • Strong C++ skills
  • Online feature and system development
  • Multi-threaded programming expertise
Good to have:
  • CryEngine/Lumberyard experience
  • Shipped PC game experience
  • Online game/MMO experience
  • Cross-studio collaboration experience
  • Willingness to travel (1-2 times/year)

Que ferez-vous ?

  • Collaborer avec les membres de l'équipe pour développer diverses fonctionnalités onlines pour le jeu intergalactique Star Citizen.
  • Mentorer les autres membres de l’équipe.
  • Concevoir et implémenter un code bien structuré, fiable, maintenable et sans bogues.
  • Développer et tester le code, corriger les bogues et optimiser le code selon les directives.
  • Communiquer avec les autres membres de l'équipe, les clients internes et les parties prenantes externes à travers plusieurs studios pour déterminer les exigences.
  • Identifier les obstacles techniques et proposer des solutions pour surmonter les risques identifiés.
  • Documenter et participer à la révision des conceptions techniques avec d'autres ingénieurs logiciels.
  • Travailler avec l'équipe d'assurance qualité (QA) pour fournir les informations nécessaires afin de tester le code développé.
  • Fournir un support aux clients internes pour le logiciel développé.
  • Se tenir à jour sur les méthodes, pratiques et technologies de pointe en ingénierie logicielle.
  • Effectuer des revues de code pour les autres membres de l'équipe.
  • Participer à diverses réunions et discussions.
  • Partager et adapter les informations techniques à différents publics.

Qu'attendons-nous de notre Programmeur.se Online Senior ?

  • 8 ans et plus d'expérience en programmation C++
  • Expérience dans l'industrie du jeu vidéo sur un titre AAA pour PC ou console utilisant C++. Vous avez de solides compétences en programmation C++.
  • Expérience en développement de fonctionnalités online et de systèmes de jeu
  • Solides compétences en programmation multithreading
  • Capacité à s’adapter à l’évolution des priorités dans un environnement en constante évolution
  • Bonne compréhension du développement avec les moteurs CryEngine/Lumberyard ; un atout
  • Une ou plusieurs livraisons de jeux PC ; un atout
  • Expérience du développement de jeux en ligne ou de MMO, y compris de l'interface avec le code serveur backend ; un atout
  • Expérience de travail avec différents studios situés sur des fuseaux horaires différents ; un atout
  • Disponible pour voyager une ou deux fois par an

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with team members to develop various online features for the intergalactic game Star Citizen
  • Mentor other software engineers as needed to increase their abilities and productivity
  • Design and implement well-engineered, reliable, maintainable, and bug-free code
  • Develop and test code, fixing bugs as well as profiling and optimize code as directed
  • Communicate with other team members, internal customers and external stakeholders across various studios to determine requirements
  • Identify technical obstacles and generating solutions to overcome identified risks
  • Document and participate to peer review of technical designs with other software engineers
  • Work with the QA team to provide the information needed to fully test developed code
  • Provide support to internal customers for developed software
  • Keep up to date on state-of-the-art software engineering methods, practices and technologies
  • Perform code reviews for other team members
  • Participate to various meetings and discussions
  • Share and adapt the technical information to different audiences

What do we expect from our Senior Online Programmer?

  • 8 years+ of experience in C++ programming
  • Experience working in the game industry on AAA PC or console title using C++. You have strong C++ programming skills.
  • Experience programming game features and systems
  • Strong multi-threaded programming skills
  • Capacity to adapt evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good understanding of development in CryEngine/Lumberyard; an asset
  • One or more shipped PC products; an asset
  • Online game or MMO development experience, including interfacing with backend server code; an asset
  • Experience working with different studios located on different time zones; an asset
  • Available to travel once or twice per year
