Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

We are seeking a Sr. Software Development in Test Engineer to join our Engineering Services, Enabling Technologies -- BI/Reporting team to build test automation and processes to ensure the quality of our advertising systems. Defects in our reports can negatively impact film production, revenue and deliver data/visuals that detract from the stakeholder experience due to irrelevance, incorrect data and poor decision-making.

Team Overview: Enabling Technologies. Product: Empower App, serves roughly 400-500 end users, many of which are c-suite and high-level business/studio production stakeholders. 120+ data visuals, 20+ data sources (various file types), pulling data from systems such as SAP, SmartSheet, Jira, SysAid, VFX SaaS, financial production systems.

Responsibilities include:

- Work closely with Software Engineers to understand the complex advertising ecosystem in place within Enabling Technology.

- Develop automated test frameworks and suites on UI, backend API and Integration levels of testing using python or other OO language.

- Participate in design discussions for our platform to help evolve the platform in a way that enables richer testing scenarios that simplify defect detection and prevention.

- Assist with triage, diagnosis, and resolution of issues discovered across teams.

- Contribute to end-to-end acceptance tests

- Where necessary, develop and execute manual test cases to detect issues that cannot be detected through automated means

- Drive the conversion of manual tests to automated whenever possible

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

-Technically lead and deliver multiple projects utilizing an Agile methodology while reviewing team member's code. Participates in developing technical and/or business approaches; and new/enhanced technical tools.

-Owns the design of software programs or systems within the team, and within the organization. Writes codes that establishes and enhances frameworks. Reviews code for the design, testability and clear usability. Builds solutions that scale and perform. Identifies opportunities to improve the system/product/services with each iteration.

Additional Scope:

-The visual component of the BI group, the automation framework is built. All reports need to be automated.

-Client will look for the engineer to build the automation framework around data validation.

Required Skills & Experience

-Minimum of 4 years of hands-on software test development experience, including both functional and non-functional test development

-Direct manual/automation testing in a data driven heavy environment: ideally in BI/Reporting, data services/platform(team has 20+ data sources, various file types -- internal and SaaS systems(financial data, HR data, Production data, project data, VFX data, etc.)

-Passion around driving best practices in the testing space

-Proficiency with Python or other OO language

-Must have SQL and experience with database testing and they should have queries experience

-Knowledge of software engineering practices and agile approaches

-Strong desire for establishing and improving product quality

-Experience building or improving test automation frameworks, specifically on data validation

-Proficiency CICD integration and pipeline development

-Proficiency in Data and BI testing(UI and API)

-Experience in Gherkin ( BDD /TDD )

-Willingness to take challenges head on while being part of a team

-B.S. in Computer Science (or equivalent degree or work experience)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-Direct industry experience: Studio, entertainment

-Tested in similar technical stack: PowerBI, Postgres, Golang, AWS

Compensation:

$60-$65/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
