Job Description

As a Software Engineer III, Full Stack, Learning and Education at Google, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions for educational products and services. You will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure that Google's educational products are of the highest quality and meet the needs of users. You will also be responsible for managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. In addition to powering core products like Google Classroom, Google Workspace, Chromebooks, YouTube, and more, you will experiment with new tools to advance the boundaries of how education leaders understand and guide their schools, staff, and students.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • 2 years of experience with full stack development, back-end with Java, and front-end with JavaScript
  • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in or lead design reviews
  • Review code developed by other developers
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Experience in user-facing analytics applications and data visualization
  • Experience in large-scale ETL systems
  • Experience in back-end distributed systems development

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience in user-facing analytics applications and data visualization.
  • Experience in large-scale ETL systems (e.g., data processing, modeling, and storage).
  • Experience in back-end distributed systems development.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content, and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
