Scopely is looking for a Technical Team Lead (Client) to join their Star Trek Fleet Command team in Shanghai. The role involves leading and managing a team of experienced engineers focused on developing and maintaining the game client. Responsibilities include designing and implementing new features, improving development processes, conducting code reviews, resolving bugs with QA, and ensuring high-quality code. The ideal candidate will also work with stakeholders to implement the best technical solutions.
Must have:
  • 5+ years on a professional development team working on unity.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong technical skills in game engines, rendering engines etc.
  • Excellent programming skills in C#
  • Experience in mobile and/or PC game development.
  • Experience with version control and build tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices.
Good to have:
  • Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Experience with server technologies and services.
  • Experience with graphics programming, including shaders.
  • Knowledge of game design principles and user experience.

Scopely is looking for a Technical Team Lead (Client)  to join our Star Trek Fleet Command team in Shanghai.

Star Trek Fleet Command's ongoing success goes from strength to strength. Our in-house developed 4X MMO was launched in 2018 and continues to evolve, being consistently one of the top 10 gross revenue Massive Multiplayer Strategy games on the market.
 

What You Will Do 

  • Lead and manage a team of experienced engineers who focus on developing and maintaining the game client.  
  • Design and implement new features in our game client, working collaboratively with other stakeholder teams to understand requirements and identify the best technical solutions.  
  • Propose and implement improvements to our development processes, workflows and tools, to increase efficiency, quality and throughput.  
  • Conduct pair programming, code reviews, 1-1’s and knowledge sharing sessions to enhance skills and build an incredible development culture.  
  • Work closely with QA to resolve bugs and deliver high-quality code for testing, contributing directly to the code base.  
  • Be the quality gate for all code that goes into our core technologies. Keep the team writing clean, efficient and optimized code.  
  • Work with stakeholders to figure out and implement the best alternative technical solutions. 



What We’re Looking For 

  • Proven ability to engage and motivate, to bring out the best in people. 
  • 5+ years as part of a professional development team working on unity. 
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Agile and Scrum. 
  • Excellent experience working with multiple stakeholders in the development process - be able to understand their goals, and deliver/ evaluate various tech solutions to meet these. 
  • Strong technical skills and experience in at least one of the following areas: game engines, rendering engines, networking, physics, gameplay, audio. 
  • Excellent programming skills in C# 
  • Experience in mobile and/or PC game development. 
  • Experience with version control, build tools and deployment pipelines. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices and trends. 
  • Fluent verbal and written English desired

 

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with automated testing and continuous integration.
  • Experience with server technologies and services for game development.
  • Experience with graphics programming, including shaders.
  • Knowledge of game design principles and user experience
