As a Technical Artist at Nin-Ja, you will refine graphics and animation from both artistic and technical perspectives. This role involves working with the creative and technical teams to realize the artistic vision by leveraging technology, tools, and processes. Responsibilities include determining the technical impact of artistic visions, automating tasks, developing best practices and tools, ensuring the team has the necessary expertise, and finding innovative solutions for visual optimization. The role requires a deep understanding of real-time 3D graphics and content creation techniques to produce the best visual results within technological limits.
Must have:
  • 3 to 5+ years of technical art experience.
  • Minimum of four years' experience with Unreal.
  • Experience with Blueprint creation and scripting.
  • Degree or relevant experience in the industry.
  • Knowledge of real-time 3D graphics.
Good to have:
  • Experience in creating scripts and tools.
  • Knowledge of shader development.
  • Japanese language knowledge.

Come join Nin-Ja as a Technical Artist!

 

You will join our team to refine the graphics and animation from an artistic as well as technical perspective.

The ideal candidate for this Tech-Art position is essentially a 3D art technical wizard who will be tasked the development from concept design to the very final touch. 

 

The Technical Artist is essential to ensure that the technology, tools and processes are in place to realize the artistic vision of a project. He or she works with the creative team to explain the capabilities and limitations of the technology, as well as with the technical team to highlight the artists' needs and find multiple solutions to technological problems.

 

Skills & Requirements

  • Highly-motivated, driven, organized, energetic, and passionate for games
  • 3 to 5+ years of technical art, game tools or equivalent experience, ideally having shipped one or more AAA titles
  • A minimum of four (4) years' experience with Unreal;
  • Experience with Blueprint creation and a good understanding of scripting and programming (Python, C++, Mel, HLSL an asset);
  • A degree or relevant professional experience in the video game industry as a technical artist or in a similar or related position;
  • Technical knowledge of real-time 3D graphics and digital content creation techniques;
  • Knowledge of pre-calculated and real-time lighting;
  • Experience in creating and deploying production and automation processes;
  • Experience with commercial 3D tools (Maya, Houdini, Substance);
  • Experience in the video game or animation industry an asset;
  • Mocap knowledge/experience an asset.
  • Portfolio conveying artistic expression and technical skills
  • English speaking and writing skills 

 

+Pluses

  • Experience in creating scripts and tools in MEL / Python / JavaScript, etc.
  • Knowledge of shader development and rendering appropriate to the specifics of the platform
  • Desire to continuously improve and expand your knowledge in a wide range of technologies and fields
  • Japanese language knowledge
Job Responsibilities

  • Act as a resource person for team members to determine the technical impact of the artistic vision;
  • Simplify production by finding ways to automate tasks and improve processes;
  • Develop a set of best practices, solutions and tools to solve problems;
  • Promote the reuse of resources, know-how and tools across multiple projects;
  • Ensure that the team has the technical expertise to carry out the work required in the project;
  • Keep up to date and constantly seek to push back the limits of technology;
  • Establish strong communication between creative and technical teams;
  • Find innovative solutions and demonstrate expertise in technical optimization to produce the best possible visual results within the limits of technological equipment;
  • Understand rendering steps and methods to assess impact on performance.
