Job Description

As a Third Engineer on a Disney Cruise Line vessel, you'll be responsible for the efficient and proper operation of engine room machinery under the Second Engineer's supervision. Responsibilities include taking and accepting watches, maintaining machinery spaces and logbooks, assisting in safe operation and maintenance of systems, preventing environmental pollution, providing guidance to subordinates, and maintaining teamwork. You'll uphold safety management responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned. The role requires an Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch unlimited license or higher, plus 1+ years' experience as a Junior Engine Officer (cruise vessel experience preferred). Excellent communication and adaptability are essential.

As Third Engineer on watch you will be responsible to the Second Engineer of the watch for the efficient and proper operation of the machinery in the Engine Room spaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for taking over and accepting a watch.
  • Maintains the machinery space and log book.
  • Assists in the safe and correct operation and maintenance requirements of the machinery systems.
  • Observes precautions to prevent pollution to the environment.
  • Provides professional and social guidance to subordinates by exemplary personal behavior.
  • Maintains good team work with the other Engine Room personnel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Second Engineer of the watch.
  • Uphold the general safety management responsibilities in areas and operations under their control.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch unlimited license or higher
  • 1+ years’ experience as Junior Engine Officer preferably on cruise vessels
  • Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English
  • Flexibility and a cool head in dynamic, ever-evolving environments

Additional Information:

This is a SHIPBOARD role.
You must:
  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
Your Responsibilities:
  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
