We’re hiring a 3D Environment Artist for a remote, contract role with a Los Angeles-based streaming client. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your artistic and technical skills to a high-impact, immersive game in the horror/thriller/suspense genre. You’ll collaborate with a creative, fast-moving team on an unannounced title, building environments that emotionally engage players and elevate the storytelling experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and create photo-realistic 3D environments, props, and assets for Unity.

• Light and set dress scenes to establish immersive mood and tone.

• Develop environments from whitebox to final shippable quality.

• Collaborate closely with concept and environment artists to refine visuals.

• Integrate assets into Unity with LODs, texture atlases, channel packing, and optimized materials.

• Implement creative and technical feedback from Art Directors, Leads, and Designers.

• Adapt environments to evolving narrative and design requirements.

• Work seamlessly with Maya and Unity via FBX imports/exports.

• Use Git or Perforce for source control and asset versioning.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of professional experience creating 3D environment art for PC or console games.

• Shipped at least one game (preferably in the horror, thriller, or suspense genre).

• Proficiency with tools like Maya or 3DS Max, ZBrush, and Substance (Painter/Designer).

• Strong knowledge of Unity and real-time asset production pipelines.

• Proven ability to take environments from minimal concept to polished execution.

• Comfortable working in fast-paced, collaborative development environments.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience working on horror, thriller, or suspense game titles.

• Understanding of cinematic lighting and environmental storytelling.
