Job Description

As an App Software Engineer for Google Home Experiences, you'll lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of new camera features within the Google Home App (Android and iOS). You'll translate product and AI-driven feature requirements into scalable solutions, write clean, well-documented code, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include ensuring seamless integration and user experience, resolving technical challenges to maintain application stability and performance, and driving best practices for mobile development. The role involves working on the camera pillar of the Google Home app, a key driver of user engagement and business growth, focusing on innovation through AI integration (Gemini).

Job Details

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 2 years of experience with performance optimization, large-scale system data analysis, visualization tools (e.g., Grafana, Kibana), and advanced debugging techniques.
  • Experience designing and developing accessible technologies, adhering to WCAG standards and best practices for mobile and web experiences.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML technologies into mobile applications, particularly for real-time video, camera, or smart home systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving system health issues, with software test engineering, including writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Understanding of software architecture and mobile design principles.

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$202,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of new camera features within the Google Home App (Android and iOS).
  • Translate product and AI-driven feature requirements into scalable, high-quality technical solutions.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (product, design, backend) to ensure seamless integration and user experience across platforms.
