Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Business Operations will report to Vice President, Global Operations Shared Services at Illumina. This is a critical role to ensure effective development and deployment of Global Operations (GO) strategic priorities to support Illumina’s company strategy as well as oversight of the PMO community of practice. The role is also responsible for continuously improving the effectiveness and cohesiveness of the operations organization in the scope of PMO/business operations and ensuring alignment across functions and delivery against strategic and operational objectives. In this role, the incumbent will support the lifecycle of a large portfolio, leading project-level reviews, optimizing standards, identifying areas for improvement, reporting analyses, and leading program managers. The scope of the GO organization includes product transfer, sourcing, purchasing, S&OP, manufacturing, logistics, on market product support, real estate and facilities, physical security, and environmental health and safety. The organization has a global footprint, with manufacturing, distribution and laboratory operations located across all geographies. The Global Operations team is over 3000 employees worldwide. The incumbent may drive critical strategic projects across GO in a fast-moving, dynamic, complex environment. A successful candidate will demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and ability to effectively execute under ambiguity. A background in life sciences is a requirement (e.g., undergraduate studies, previous or current work). Broad-based experience across the product lifecycle and a wide breadth of operations is critical for success. Minimally, a BS in Biology, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Operations, or equivalent is required. Clinical experience, particularly in diagnostics, is highly desirable.
Scope of Responsibilities:
· Executes operational objectives and partner with senior leadership on strategic planning and deployment.
· Use metrics and data visualization effectively to report portfolio performance and support decision-making at the team or organizational level
· Develop and implement project management methodologies and best practices to build on the team’s skills and abilities
· Contribute to the establishment of common practices, tools, and templates for portfolio and project management, and ensure adherence to company and legal standards
· Develops, modifies, and executes company policies that affect immediate operations and may have enterprise-wide effect.
· Works on highly complex assignments where problem solving requires conceptual thinking as all factors may not be clearly defined.
· Frequently interacts with senior management and/or executives on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.
· Applies advanced knowledge to convince stakeholders of desired departmental outcomes.
· Interactions require the ability to negotiate and persuade others in sensitive and complex situations while preserving relationships.
· Directs the activities of two or more disciplines or departments.
· Frequently advises team(s) on complex matters and has significant influence in terms of budget, methods, and staffing.
· Oversees experienced professionals and ability to influence and lead across different levels
Experience/Education:
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years of related experience, with 7+ years of Management experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Associate Director, Business Operations role based in the United States of America is: $152,600 - $228,800. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
