This is an internship opportunity at CNBC for the academic year 2025-2026. Interns will gain experience in production and editorial roles, contributing to live TV and digital content creation. Responsibilities include assisting in segment production, participating in editorial meetings, writing articles, and managing social media. Must have:
  • Actively enrolled in a degree program during the internship.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Strong interest in the media industry and business news.
  • Experience in a school newspaper or news station is a plus.

Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('SpinCo') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Academic Year Recruitment Timeline:  

April 21 – May 9: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume) 

Early May – Mid June: First round video interviews  

Mid June – Mid July: Second round interviews 

Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers

Academic Year Internship Program:

  • Applications Close: May 9th at 11:59pm ET. Pro Tip: Submit your application as soon as possible – applications could close earlier due to applicant volume!
  • Program Dates: September 15, 2025 – April 17, 2026
  • Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week. Exact schedule to be determined based on business need.  We will do our best to accommodate course schedules.
  • Format: Opportunities listed will require an intern to work from Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

Production 

  • Fast Money – Our intern gets the unique opportunity to gain journalism experience in both live TV and digital production. Work closely with our team to help produce segments, participate in editorial meetings and be in the live control room during the show. Our intern also helps produce digital program “ETF Edge” and gets the chance to write articles for CNBC.com. The internship is ideal for students are interested in covering business news and have taken broadcast journalism and/or digital news writing courses. We also like to see students involved with their school’s newspapers, TV and/or radio stations.
  • Mad Money – Interns become intimately involved with our production on their first day with CNBC. You’ll interact with our legion of fans (we call them Cramericans!) and find informed, excited callers with questions for our show each day. You’ll get hands-on with news management tools like iNews and Dali as you build elements for our show. Working on the “Mad Money” team will acclimate you with video editing programs like Stratus and CapCut. You’ll also contribute to Mad Money’s social media strategy, optimizing our content and working on new, innovative content blasts to our fans each day.

Editorial

  • Editorial/Breaking News – CNBC.com is offering an immersive writing and editing internship on the digital breaking-news desk. Interns will edit and produce news stories from wires, CNBC reporters and partners. Interns will write quick flips as well as original stories throughout the semester. We’re looking for highly motivated students who love the fast pace of a newsroom and have a serious interest in business news and online journalism.
  • Strategic Content – The Strategic Content department is CNBC’s only cross-platform team, creating editorial content for on-air and online (CNBC.com) publication. Our department produces a packed editorial calendar of special reports covering core CNBC topics: the labor market, technology, corporate strategy, entrepreneurship, leadership and more. A Strategic Content internship provides aspiring journalists with the opportunity to write for the web, support the production of sponsorships for TV and learn about the podcasting space. 
  • Social Media – The intern will work with the U.S. editorial social media team to help manage CNBC’s social presence on our flagship accounts. You’ll work closely with social media editors to help keep our readers up to date on the latest business news, grow CNBC’s audience, and craft our social voice. You’ll get hands-on experience writing and

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible for our 2025-2026 Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 15, 2025 – April 17, 2026.
  • Must be willing to work in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.

For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

NBCUniversal is an E-Verify company, requiring all employees to have an active Social Security number. Any candidate receiving an internship offer must complete I-9 form with Social Security number within 3 days of hire.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. 
  • Strong interest in the media industry; knowledge of business news is a plus. 
  • Commitment to building an inclusive work environment.  
  • Ability to multitask and highly organized. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.  
  • Previous internship experience or college/university leadership; newsroom environment preferred. 
  • Experience in a school newspaper or campus news station is a plus.  
  • Experience with social media platforms and various creative tools (i.e. Adobe Photoshop or Premiere, Avid) preferred. 
  • Desired Majors: Brand Management, Broadcast Media, Business, Communications, Digital Media, Digital Video, English, Finance, Human Resource Management, Journalism, Market Research, Marketing, Mass Media, News Writing and Reporting, Production, Social Media.

The hourly rate for student interns is $17.50.
