Job Description

One of Us seeks a Creature/Character Modeller experienced in creating photorealistic fantasy and real-life creatures/characters for VFX projects. Responsibilities include building models with clean topology and UVs, sculpting displacement maps, modelling clothing matching photogrammetry data, creating FACS-based face shapes, and contributing to workflow discussions. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in Maya, Zbrush, and other relevant software, a keen eye for detail, anatomy knowledge (human and creature), and experience working with downstream departments (rigging, CFX, animation). A portfolio showcasing these skills is required.

Job Details

One Of Us is a visual effects studio founded in London in 2004 by co-directors Rachael Penfold, Dominic Parker and Tom Debenham.

With a dynamic team of over 350 highly skilled professionals, we take pride in pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling with experience in all stages of production, from concept through to planning, photography and post-production.

From breathtaking fantasy landscapes to gripping action sequences, our portfolio spans a diverse range of genres and award winning projects such as Pinocchio, The Witcher and The Crown.

One of us is looking for a Creature / Character modeller who has experience in creating photo realistic Fantasy and real life Creatures / Characters for VFX projects.

Alongside good technical knowledge of character / creature workflows within VFX, the candidate must also have a good eye for detail that is capable of matching onset data and also the ability to translate reference material onto fantasy creatures.

Good knowledge of working with downstream departments ( Riggin, CFX and Animation) is required alongside Anatomy knowledge of both humans and creatures.

Experience of Facial modelling utilising FACS of both human and animal will also be a part of the role.

A portfolio of work that demonstrates these qualities is required for consideration towards this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Build models with good / clean Topology and UV’s.
  • Build and present Anatomy diagnostics of Creatures.
  • Sculpting of Displacement maps for Characters / creatures.
  • Modelling of clothing that matches photogrammetry data sets for Digital doubles.
  • Creation of FACS based face shapes that work within OOU’s facial pipeline.
  • Contributing to workflow and pipeline discussions for Characters and creatures and also aiding in documenting workflows as needed.


What we're looking for:

  • Modelling of clothing that matches photogrammetry data sets for Digital doubles.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in using Maya, Zbrush, Mush 3d, Wrap 3d (Optical flow set ups and processing of FACS data.)
  • Experienced in Shotsculpting.
  • Experience in modelling of LOD’s and Simulation / technical meshes for creatures.
  • An understanding of rigging, animation and CFX requirements.
  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Team oriented crew member with good communication skills.

Hours and location

Our core hours are 09:30am to 18:30pm, or 10:00am to 19:00 pm Monday to Friday. We have a great office in the 20th arrondissement, where our artists are based.

All roles, including hybrid/remote opportunities, at One of Us require candidates to reside in the UK or France, depending on the location of the role, or must be willing to relocate for the duration of the contract. All candidates must disclose if they have an existing Right to Work in the relevant country, or would require sponsorship support, i.e. Visa.

Nous recherchons un modélisateur de créatures / personnages qui a de l'expérience dans la création de créatures / personnages photo réalistes de la vie réelle et de la fantaisie pour des projets VFX.

En plus d'une bonne connaissance technique des flux de travail des personnages / créatures au sein des VFX, le candidat doit également avoir un bon sens du détail, capable de faire correspondre les données de départ et de traduire le matériel de référence sur des créatures fantastiques.

Une bonne connaissance du travail avec les départements en aval (Riggin, CFX et Animation) est requise ainsi qu'une connaissance de l'anatomie des humains et des créatures.

L'expérience de la modélisation faciale à l'aide de FACS d'humains et d'animaux fera également partie du rôle.

Un portefeuille de travaux démontrant ces qualités est requis pour être pris en considération pour ce poste.


Responsabilités :

  • Construire des modèles avec une topologie et des UV bons / propres.
  • Construire et présenter des diagnostics anatomiques de créatures.
  • Sculpture de cartes de déplacement pour les personnages/créatures.
  • Modélisation des vêtements qui correspondent aux ensembles de données de photogrammétrie pour les doubles numériques.
  • Création de formes de visage basées sur FACS qui fonctionnent dans le pipeline facial d'OOU.
  • Contribuer aux discussions sur le flux de travail et le pipeline pour les personnages et les créatures et aider à documenter les flux de travail si nécessaire.

Ce que nous recherchons :

  • Expérience préalable dans un rôle similaire.
  • Expérience dans l'utilisation de Maya, Zbrush, Mush 3d, Wrap 3d (mise en place de flux optiques et traitement de données FACS).
  • Expérience en Shotsculpting.
  • Expérience de la modélisation des LOD et des maillages de simulation/techniques pour les créatures.
  • Compréhension des exigences en matière de rigging, d'animation et de CFX.
  • Bonne capacité à résoudre les problèmes.
  • Membre de l'équipe orienté vers le travail d'équipe et doté de bonnes capacités de communication.



Ces postes sont ouverts aux contrats CDD avec extension potentielle à des contrats CDI. Les candidats retenus qui nécessiteraient un visa pour travailler sur le sol français recevront les détails nécessaires sur les démarches à suivre.
