Job Description

The Data Analytics Customer Engineer role at Google Cloud focuses on managing technical relationships with digital native customers regarding data platforms. Responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, resolving technical blockers, sharing data analytics knowledge through briefings and proof-of-concept work, and influencing the industry's technical decision-making. The role requires collaborating with partners, driving solution consumption, and traveling to customer sites and events. This customer-facing position needs fluent communication in Japanese and English. The ideal candidate possesses strong data engineering and platform expertise (Hadoop/Spark, BigQuery, etc.) and experience in customer-facing sales roles.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent
6+ years customer-facing experience
2+ years Big Data/Streaming Data experience
Hadoop/Spark, BigQuery, Athena, Snowflake expertise
Fluent Japanese & English communication

Good to have:

Master's degree in CS or related field
Data engineer/architect experience
Growth marketing experience in SaaS/ISV
Technology consultant/architect experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
6 years of experience in customer facing role.
2 years of experience in data and information management as it relates to Big Data or Streaming Data Pipeline.
Experience with one or more of the following: Hadoop/Spark ecosystem, BigQuery, Athena, Snowflake.
Ability to communicate fluently in Japanese in order to communicate in this customer-facing sales role

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, other technical fields or equivalent practical experience.
2 years of experience as a data engineer, database architect or database administrator who conducts data platform requirements analysis and stakeholder management.
Experience in growth marketing related roles in SaaS, Independent Software Vendor (ISV), or consumer application industry.
Experience as a technology consultant, technical architect, enterprise architect, technical sales engineer, or solutions architect.
Ability to communicate fluently in English as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions with local stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Manage technical relationships with digital native customers regarding data platforms. Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, identify key customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.
Share data analytics and data engineering knowledge to support technical relationships with customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and the coordination and prioritization of solutions impacting customer adoption of Google Cloud.
Influence the digital native industry’s technical decision-making through storytelling to evolve data platform architectures and growth marketing strategies with Google Cloud.
Drive data analytics solutions consumption with technical wins to solve customer’s pain points by collaborating with data platform partners and data analytics partners.
Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed.
