Job Description
Nielsen seeks a DevOps Engineer to join their international team responsible for building the Client Delivery Framework, foundational to all future web applications. This role focuses on increasing delivery speed, improving code quality and security, and optimizing development processes. Responsibilities include identifying and resolving development and delivery bottlenecks, collaborating with teams to enhance solutions, building coding standardizations, automating processes, performing environmental health checks, and deploying applications. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and problem-solving skills, and expertise in cloud architectures, container platforms, deployment automation, and CI/CD tools.
Must have:
- 3+ years DevOps/SRE experience
- Excellent scripting skills (Bash, Perl, Python)
- Cloud architecture implementation (PaaS/SaaS)
- Experience with deployment automation
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), Kubernetes, Docker
Good to have:
- Experience with Jenkins, Hudson, Maven, Ant, Git, Sonar
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

About the role
- You’ll be working within an international group of teams which span from the US till India.
- This group is responsible for building our Client Delivery Framework which is the foundation for all our future web applications at Nielsen.
- As a Senior/Lead Devops Engineeer you will help to increase speed of delivery, improve quality/security of code, and optimize processes for the development team.
- You will be responsible for identifying the bottlenecks of various development and delivery processes, working with team members to improve them, and improving the overall experience of developers.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with Tech Leads and developers of various teams to assess existing problems and to come up with process improvement solutions Detect upcoming bottlenecks and production issues proactively and consult teams hands-on towards improved technical solutions.
- Participate in planning delivery time, code quality, and process efficiency improvement projects Execute on plan by building coding standardizations and automating processes for the organization.
- Perform daily tasks such as environmental health checks, disk space monitoring, and environmental status reports.
- Maintain and grows knowledge of platform configuration management and troubleshooting Actively participate in deploying application artifacts to appropriate target environments using the supported technologies and infrastructure.
- Survey developers and technical members of the organization to understand their main pain points in the coding and development process.
- Collaborate with the rest of DevOps team to deliver consistent and holistic solution to the organization.
Key Skills
- Domain Expertise-
- 3+ years of experience as a DevOps or SRE Engineer on a cross-functional agile team Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering.
- Technical Skills-
- Excellent coding and scripting skills (Bash, Per, Python) and experience with implementing high-scale cloud architectures using modern, cloud-based container platforms (PaaS/SaaS)Working knowledge of deployment automation solutions (i.e. Terraform, Helm, etc.).
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and cluster management tools like Kubernetes, Docker, configuration management and monitoring.
- Experience with continuous integration and related tools such as Jenkins, Hudson, Maven, Ant, Git, Sonar, etc.
- Experienced with building, debugging, operating systems, databases and infrastructure at scale
- Mindset and attributes-
- Strong communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts and align organization on decisions.
- Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly process complex information and present it clearly and simply.
- Utilizes team collaboration to create innovative solutions efficiently.
