NVIDIA's Networking NVLINK group in Israel seeks an experienced Director of Hardware Engineering to lead a system/board design team. The team develops GPU networking infrastructure for next-generation servers, focusing on accelerated performance and optimized end-to-end GPU connectivity. Responsibilities include building and leading the HW design team, leading switch system design from concept to mass production, collaborating with various HW project areas (Board Design, Mechanics, Thermal, PCB Layout, Production, Software/Firmware, RTL), managing direct reports, planning projects, and ensuring timely and successful high-volume manufacturing. Deep familiarity with the entire design flow, from specification to production, is crucial. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-speed design and experience managing systems from concept through production.
Must have:
  • 15+ years experience in board design
  • 8+ years technical design management
  • Multi-disciplinary project leadership
  • Hands-on lab skills & high-current power delivery design
  • RTL implementation knowledge (CPLD/FPGA)
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
Good to have:
  • Data center switch design experience
  • High-speed design (25Gb/s and above)
  • Embedded systems design knowledge
  • Advanced PCB technology knowledge

Job Details

Our Networking NVLINK group in Israel is looking for an experienced and skilled manager to lead our system/board design team. The team leads the development of GPU networking infrastructure for NVIDIA next-generation servers focusing on accelerated performance while enabling optimized end to end GPU connectivity. NVIDIA's NVLINK HW team designs innovative end-to-end connectivity solutions for GPU servers. Our products optimize data Center performance and deliver industry-leading bandwidth and scalability. Our products are focused on providing the most optimized power - performance communication solutions for industries like AI, ML, Cloud, Media and Entertainment as well as any other industry that can benefit from our Datastream acceleration.

What you'll be doing:

  • Build and lead HW design team responsible for delivering HVM high-performance systems

  • Lead Pioneering Switch System design from concept to mass production

  • Collaborate and integrate with all HW project subject areas: Board Design, Mechanics, Thermal, PCB Layout, Production, Software/Firmware, RTL and more

  • Planning the work of your team on multiple simultaneous development projects with a broader leadership team

  • Managing direct reports, goal setting, mentoring, performance appraisals, career planning and compensation recommendations

  • Collect, examine, and filter requirements from internal customers such as marketing, software and systems engineering and put together plan of records for next generation switch

  • Schedule projects, make realistic estimates of outcomes and work to make projects timely and successful for high volume manufacture.

  • Deep familiarity with the entire design flow including hands-on practice: specification definitions, electrical schematics, component selection, layout guidance, hands-on testing in lab environment, accompanying production and qualification processes, micro-architecture, verification, characterization, design for testability, cost, reliability and more.

What we need to see:

  • A Bachelors, Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or relevant related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 15+ overall years of industry experience in architecture, design, and methodology of cutting-edge board design development

  • 8+ years of technical design management experience

  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary projects

  • Hands-on lab skills

  • Experience in leading Multi layer PCB design and high current power delivery design

  • Comprehensive understanding of RTL implementations (CPLD/FPGA)

  • Ability to provide insight and guidance on trade-offs between power, performance, and area appropriately to meet the requirements of the product

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to quickly build relationships and prioritize/align conflicting needs and teams

  • Significant experience managing systems from concept through production

Ways to stand out from the crowd:

  • Experience in data-center switches products design for high volume manufacturing

  • Proven knowledge in high speed design (25Gb/s and above)

  • Experience in embedded systems design

  • Knowledge in advanced PCB technology
