Your new CNN role:

CNN is seeking an experienced digital-first editor to to join its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong to help steer the world’s biggest, most engaging stories — with a strong focus on US domestic news.

The successful candidate will thrive in a pressurized deadline-driven environment, editing the big, important stories of the day with accuracy and speed.

Working as part of a diverse, highly-collaborative team of digital-first editors and reporters, you will serve as a vital link in CNN’s follow-the-sun operation to ensure consistent, multiplatform coverage around the clock.

The successful candidate will share our insatiable appetite for breaking news and chasing fast-moving stories across time-zones, while helping to drive domestic coverage throughout the US overnight hours.

From civil unrest to natural disasters, you will respond in real-time to breaking events – editing, framing, and writing editorial content for our audiences around the world.

You’ll have proven high-level editing skills and the ability to distill complex ideas, as well as an eye for emerging trends and an appetite to dive into new subjects and quickly get up to speed.

Though the role is located in Asia-Pacific, you will be working as part of a global, 24/7 digital-first multiplatform team, and will be comfortable moving between US domestic and international news priorities.

Qualifications & Experiences:

• A minimum of 6 years of editing experience for leading digital-first outlets

• A proven track record of editing major breaking news; superior news judgement; and the ability to deliver in a highly pressurized, deadline driven environment

• Exceptional communication and organizational skills

• Able to think in headlines and smart framings, while considering the intended audience

• Heightened ability to identify news as it breaks – be it through sources, Dataminr, news wires, etc – and pivot accordingly

• A passion for news; and a deep knowledge of US national affairs preferred

• College degree or equivalent industry experience

• Perfect grasp of written and spoken English

• Enthusiasm, flexibility and a desire to foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment

• A strong desire to make CNN’s coverage reflective of the world we cover and ensuring all journalism produced adheres to CNN standards and integrity

• Self-starter with a history of delivering outstanding journalism
