General Description:

 

We are seeking a Fashion Editor to join the Vision Monday and 20/20 team. The Editor is responsible for writing compelling copy, editing manuscripts on fashion, eyewear, and optical topics, and consistently finding creative ways to connect with readers. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the optical industry, fashion industry, or both, and will have a background in journalism, English or writing. This role supports 20/20 magazine, an industry-leading eyewear fashion publication, as well as Vision Monday, a leading news and optical business trend title that provides an integrated platform of publications and live events. This high-profile role within the industry entails reporting, researching, writing copy and feature stories, special projects for e-newsletters, websites, print/digital editions and live events, as well as editing content. Articles may be news, features, and short- or long-form content, for monthly publications, digital platforms, newsletters and other projects. At least 5 years of experience is preferable. 

 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Write and copyedit articles for the various 20/20 and Vision Monday publications including the website, newsletters, magazines and special editorial supplements
  • Act as Project Manager on product section assignments and eyewear product sample call-ins 
  • Interview, report, gather, proofread content and post to website
  • Work with clients, sales and production/design to meet all print/digital deadlines 
  • Manage special print editions and supplements
  • Assist at photo shoots
  • Special projects and event coverage as needed and/or assigned
  • Engagement in video projects for digital and social media platforms
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree or higher 
  • Minimum of 5 years in editorial capacity  
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills 
  • Strong command of English grammar and usage 
  • Possess a meticulous eye for details, and be digital and social media savvy savvy
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Suite), and skills on a variety of computer and mobile devices for use on social networking
  • Must have the ability to work independently, have a strong sense of responsibility, and be able to own and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Travel:
  • Both US and international travel to industry events is required.
