Technical Product Manager – Video Platforms
Job Overview:
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Technical Product Manager to lead the evolution of a world-class video platform that seamlessly integrates advanced content management and editorial workflows. You will spearhead the development of best-in-class video streaming and content curation experiences, setting new standards in the industry by driving innovation across video delivery, content recommendations, and monetization strategies.
As the leader of this critical product line, you will be responsible for shaping the platform’s future, empowering editorial teams, and delivering personalized, scalable experiences for global users. You’ll combine technical expertise with a bold product vision to deliver exceptional value and ensure the platform not only meets but defines the future of video and content delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Product Vision: Own the strategic direction and roadmap for a cutting-edge video platform that merges seamless video delivery with powerful, scalable content management systems (CMS). Your goal is to set new industry benchmarks in user engagement, content curation, and platform scalability, making our platform a leader in video innovation.
- Revolutionize Content Management: Lead the creation of an intuitive, agile CMS tailored to the needs of editorial teams, empowering them to easily manage large-scale video libraries. Ensure seamless workflows for content ingestion, metadata management, and curation, delivering the tools necessary for swift and efficient publishing across platforms.
- AI-Driven Personalization & Curation: Develop state-of-the-art tools that enable editorial curation, while leveraging AI-driven recommendation engines that tailor content suggestions to individual viewers. Your focus will be on delivering a personalized content experience that increases engagement, retention, and overall user satisfaction.
- Best-in-Class Video Streaming: Lead efforts to optimize the video delivery pipeline, from encoding and transcoding to CDN integration and playback performance. You will ensure that the platform offers buffer-free, high-quality streaming at scale, supporting a growing global user base and vast content library.
- User-Centric Design & Experience: Collaborate closely with UX and UI design teams to develop interfaces that are not only intuitive but delight users. From content creators to end-users, your goal will be to craft an unmatched user experience that simplifies complexity and boosts engagement at every touchpoint.
- Data-Driven Product Innovation: Leverage data analytics to deeply understand user behavior, platform performance, and editorial outcomes. Drive product decisions through comprehensive insights into video consumption patterns, content performance, and user engagement. Build feedback loops that continuously optimize both editorial workflows and user experience.
- Monetization Leadership: Play a central role in developing and refining the platform’s monetization strategies. You will explore innovative revenue models such as subscription offerings, premium content tiers, and addressable advertising solutions, balancing user experience with financial growth.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Client Relationships: Act as the primary point of coordination between internal teams (engineering, design, data science, and marketing) and external clients. Maintain strong relationships with each service provider, understanding their unique needs and ensuring product roadmaps reflect these requirements. Lead client onboarding processes, ensuring smooth integrations and successful adoption of the platform.
- Continuous Improvement & Agile Development: Lead agile development processes, with a focus on continuous iteration and improvement. Prioritize the product backlog based on client feedback, business priorities, and market needs, ensuring the highest-impact features are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Product Management, or related fields.
- 8+ years of product management experience with a proven track record in video platforms, content management, and user engagement strategies.
- Deep expertise in video streaming technologies (HLS/DASH), encoding, transcoding, and scalable CDN integration.
- Proven experience managing user experiences for CMS platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, WordPress, headless CMS systems), with a focus on editorial workflows, curation, and ease of content management.
- Strong understanding of content curation, personalization systems, and editorial tools for creating featured content and curated collections.
- Technical expertise in product design for CMS platforms that support large scale content ingestion, management, and publishing workflows.
- Familiarity with AI-driven recommendation systems and user behavior analytics to create personalized user experiences.
- Experience with SEO optimization for video content, including metadata tagging and search optimization strategies.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with engineering, editorial, design, and business teams.
- Proficient in using Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for scalable video delivery and content management infrastructure.
- Knowledge of DRM technologies and content protection systems for secure video delivery.
- Familiarity with AI/ML tools for enhancing editorial workflows, personalized content recommendations, and content categorization.
- Understanding of video SEO and searchability features for improving content discovery within the platform.
- Experience managing large-scale video platforms with editorial-driven content discovery and user personalization.
- Experience with programmatic advertising and addressable advertising.
