Job Description

The Engineer, Chassis Wheel Guidance (rear control arms) will be a key contributor to the suspension structural components, enabling market-defining system performance for electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs. The role involves applying chassis system knowledge to create high-performance solutions, designing and developing chassis and drive system integration, and collaborating with other teams. The engineer will also be involved in prototype and serial development stages, including part availability, test planning, and part releases. The position requires 3-4 days a week in the office. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in chassis concept engineering or development.
  • Experience in CAD tools and part design.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Key contributor for suspension structural components, enabling market defining system performance.
  • Apply chassis system knowledge of metal formed products (Castings, weldments and forgings) to create high performance robust solutions for a world class off road vehicle.
  • Individually contribute to the design and development of the chassis and drive system integration for Scout all-electric pick-up trucks and rugged SUVs.
  • Be a part of the vision of engineering excellence & source of knowledge.
  • Critically review of available technical systems and propose an engineering improvement of chassis components and functions.
  • Design & create with collaboration, a drive system packaging and a testing strategy that allows other teams to contribute and implement their necessities.
  • Partner with other concept & systems architect teams to come up with solution to engineering & functional challenges.
  • Coordinate the prototype and serial development stage in terms of part availability, test planning and part releases.
  • Be involved other related tasks / activities as required.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, Michigan. 
  • The responsibilities of this role require 3-4 days per week attendance in office with in-person meetings and events regularly. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or Engineering Technology.
  • 4+ years of experience in chassis concept engineering or serial production development, specifically with focus of platforms/variants, module selection and modification, in the chassis environment is desired.
  • Experience in CAD tools, packaging of chassis components and experience in part design (incl. requirements management, system integration, manufacturing and assembly processes).
  • Advanced project steering and coordination skills to practice independent project management for a defined chassis part scope.
  • Motivated engineer wanting to work at the cutting edge of electric vehicle technical design, create new ideas and solutions, enjoy hands-on testing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, innovative, creative, communication skills and ability to develop & mutually thrive in working relationships.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional environment.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $120,000.00 - $135,000.00
