Job Description

We are seeking expert freelance subtitle and SDH authors proficient in English-to-French and French-to-French translation for the TV and movie industry. Responsibilities include creating accurate and stylistically appropriate subtitles and SDH captions, adhering to industry best practices and technical standards. Candidates must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and adaptability to changing workflows. Experience with subtitle editing software and cloud technologies is crucial. A deep understanding of subtitle and dubbing nuances, including regional variations, and knowledge of common subtitling challenges are essential. Proficiency in both source and target languages is a must.

Must have:

Native fluency in target language

Subtitle/SDH experience
Adaptability to workflow changes
Attention to detail
Subtitle editing software proficiency

Good to have:

Localization QC experience
Audiovisual translation experience
Understanding of dubbing nuances

Description

We are currently looking for expert subtitling freelance translators with proven and solid experience in subtitling for the TV and Movie industry from English into French subtitling and also French to French for SDH.

Requirements

Please make sure your CV shows us that you meet the following basic requirements:

Ability to quickly adapt to workflow/process changes and updates.
Great attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, analytical and multitasking skills.
Native language fluency of target language.
Extensive knowledge of source language.
University degree or equivalent professional experience in the translation field.
Experience in at least one of the following areas of the entertainment industry: localization QC, audiovisual translation and subtitling.
Deep understanding of nuances of subtitle and dub translations.
Working knowledge of Countries differences and best practices for subtitles and dub audio creation.
Understanding of closed captioning and subtitling, and their common failures and technical challenges.
Confidence and experience with subtitle editing software and web/cloud technology.
