Field Application Scientist 2
The UK/IRE team is looking for a Field application Scientist to cover South Wales and the South West of England. This is a field based role with travel required across the region to support customers.

The Field Applications Scientist partners with our clinical and research customers to provide technical training, troubleshooting, and complaint resolution. This position serves as a scientific consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and will collaborate with our broader commercial team to maximize sales growth and customer satisfaction. This role requires troubleshooting, communication, time management, situational awareness, poise under pressure, and collaboration. You will be commercially minded and partner with your customers to ensure they receive the best service and relevant products. You will be expected to build and maintain strong relationships across territory Service and Support teams, Marketing, Sales, Customer Service, and Quality organizations.
The territory you will cover for our customers will be South Wales, Bristol and the South West of England.

Responsibilities will include
- Coordinating new installations, including facility inspections, instrument validation and customer training
- Review and approve operational quality of equipment, and instruct customers in operations and maintenance of systems
- Troubleshooting issues related to user's technical skills, biochemistry/assay design, experimental design, software and instruments
- Interpreting customer needs and identifying if the responsibility for a problem resolution falls to sales personnel, engineering or other company personnel
- Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers in assigned territory
- Helping to maintain and increase product usage, supporting key account and strategic sales efforts through technical presentations and demonstrations and attending quarterly business reviews
- Assisting sales and marketing on new strategic sales initiatives requiring both technical depth and market knowledge
- Developing and improving key company processes that support our mission of building a world-class customer support organization
- Elevation process management as a FAS you are responsible for elevating application issues with customers instruments, customer issues and any kit issues
Preferred Education, background, skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Genetics required, plus + 2 years’ related experience OR and advanced degree without experience.
- Considerable experience using Genotyping and/or Sequencing technologies is highly desirable
- Previous biotech experience / knowledge of Illumina applications is preferred
- Must be willing to travel up to 70%
- Prior field experience supporting customers in a highly technical field is advantageous
- Demonstrable ability to independently work on highly complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables
- Use independent judgment in developing methods, techniques or evaluation criteria for obtaining results
- An understanding of commonly used Genotyping data analysis software applications and/or Bioinformatics tools and programs is advantageous
- Demonstrable superior problem solving and interpersonal and account management skills within a commercial environment
