Job Description
As Deputy Manager of Indirect Procurement (Merchandising Expenses), you'll manage the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory of materials for merchandise production. This includes coordinating with suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring quality and cost standards, and collaborating with internal teams. Responsibilities encompass procurement strategy, inventory management, quality assurance, budget control, and vendor relationship management. You'll identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure compliance with company policies and regulations. The role requires strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills, along with experience in merchandising purchases and team management.
Must have:
- 7+ years procurement experience (Merchandising)
- 5+ years team management experience
- Strong negotiation & vendor management skills
- Proficiency in procurement software & inventory systems
- Budget management and cost-saving strategies
Good to have:
- MBA degree
- ERP system familiarity

About the team: Procurement Team manages the complete sourcing and contracting life cycle for Non Tech Procurement space for Marketing category by engaging with Internal Marketingoperations, Vendors and responsible for vendor selection and negotiations, Contract Compliance, Vendor performance assessment and reporting.
About the role: Responsible for managing the sourcing, purchasing, and inventory of materials required for merchandise production. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, evaluating vendor options, and ensuring that materials meet quality, cost, and delivery standards. The specialist will collaborate with internal teams, including product development, design, and logistics, to ensure timely and cost- effective procurement that aligns with company objectives.
Expectations/ Requirements
Sourcing & Vendor Management
o Identify, assess, and select suppliers to provide high-quality materials that meet
merchandise requirements.
o Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with vendors, maintaining cost efficiency and
budget adherence.
o Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring reliable supply
chains and efficient problem resolution.
o Track supplier performance, ensuring adherence to lead times, quality standards,
and compliance with company policies.
Procurement & Inventory Management
o Plan and execute procurement strategies that are aligned with production schedules
and inventory requirements.
o Monitor stock levels to ensure adequate supply without overstocking, adjusting
orders as needed based on forecast and demand.
o Manage material specifications, placing orders to fulfill merchandising demands
promptly and within budget.
o Develop contingency plans for critical materials to mitigate risks of supply
disruptions.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
o Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure materials meet internal
quality and compliance standards.
o Work with vendors to resolve any quality issues or material defects swiftly.
o Ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards for materials
procurement.
Budget Management
o Monitor and manage budgets for merchandise material procurement.
o Identify cost-saving opportunities through effective negotiation, vendor
consolidation, or alternative sourcing strategies.
● Interface with the client on Requirement Analysis, establish category specific
● objectives and formulate sourcing strategies - specific to Marketing
● Quick Turn around time for finalization of Procurement activities
● Provide pro-active support in new source identification, assessment and
● evaluation as per strategic sourcing process (RFP/RFQ) followed by PO
● documentation and compliance.
Superpowers/ Skills that will help you succeed in this role
● Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement and preferably doing merchandising purchases for good numbers of years.
● including a minimum of five years in team management.
● Proven leadership and management skills with the ability to optimize team
● Familiarity with ERP systems, Proficiency in procurement software and inventory management systems.
● Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers.
● Strong and confident negotiator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
● Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct team according to company standards.
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
● Results-orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
Education - Education: Bachelor’s degree, MBA is preferred.
