Job Description

The Intern, Financial Accounting and Control will be assigned to a team lead to assist in preparing, developing, and analyzing financial information to help senior management make informed decisions for future stability, growth, and profitability. The intern will have the opportunity to understand the overall business model, focusing on core accounting skills, working across different business divisions to support the entire organization. They will be rotated through different divisions and become proficient in globally recognized software systems. The role offers hands-on application of finance principles in a fast-paced work environment.
Must have:
  • Perform accounting transactions in the general ledger.
  • Support the team with daily tasks.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to reporting requirements.
  • Work on continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist in preparing monthly reports.
  • Develop and utilize spreadsheets and databases.
Good to have:
  • Pursuing a Finance degree/qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Good knowledge of accounting concepts.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn.
  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Sense of teamwork.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work according to UK work hours.
  • Planning and prioritising.

Position Summary

London Stock Exchange Group’s Business Services arm supports multiple legal entities located globally enabling you to practice your financial knowledge and skills in a professional setting. The Intern-Financial Reporting and Control will be assigned to a team lead, where they will assist to prepare, develop, and analyse financial information, enabling the senior management to make well-informed decisions, leading to future stability, growth, and profitability. He/she holder will have the opportunity to understands the overall business model of the company focusing on core accounting skills, working across different business divisions to support the whole organisation. He/she will be rotated through our divisions of responsibility for more learning opportunity, and they will become proficient on globally renowned software systems. You will appreciate the very well-structured operating processes and the hands-on application of finance principles in a fast-paced work environment.

Role Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting transactions in the general ledger, sub-ledgers and reporting modules, including collecting, recording, and verifying financial data.
  • Shadowing members of the team as they perform their duties and support them on daily tasks.
  • Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and validations.
  • Ensures adherence to group reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively in identification and support of continuous improvement activities.
  • Assistance may be required in the preparation of monthly or weekly financial reports.
  • Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases, and other reports.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Pursuing or entry level of a Finance degree/professional qualification (ACA/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Good knowledge on accounting concepts and principles.
  • Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with global colleagues.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication that resonates with the target audience.
