At Amazon Games, our ambition is to create bold new experiences that foster community in and around our games. Our team of game industry veterans is developing and publishing live service AAA multiplayer games and developing original IPs, including New World, with our studios and teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, and Montreal. Amazon Games also publishes best-in-class games working closely with our partners, leading with Lost Ark from Smilegate RPG, Throne and Liberty from NCSOFT, Blue Protocol from Bandai Namco Online as well as the next major entry in the Tomb Raider series from Crystal Dynamics.
As the Lead Game Designer, you will be responsible to manage the Game Design team and guide them through planning, creation and distribution of tasks. You will collaborate with all other departments of the game production to ensure you team delivers on deadlines, with quality.
Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate and contribute ideas for the features and systems vision of the game as defined by Amazon Games leadership.
- Contribute to the design and development of interesting and fun concepts for weapons, characters, and gameplay systems, based on the directions set by Amazon Games leadership.
- Write and review design documents that communicate your vision to the rest of the team
- Work with the animation team to describe timings, distances, and other animation keys which result in responsive, fun gameplay
- Work with programmer to create custom functionality for your gameplay experiences
- Script gameplay logic and integrate animations into the game engine
- Refine, tune, and polish your work create highly polished, high quality gameplay experiences
A day in the life
This position is office-based, with the flexibility to work remotely up to two days per week in line with Amazon’s current flexible work guidance. Amazon encourages open communication about unique needs for flexible arrangements.
Basic Qualifications
- Extensive experience in the Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Extensive experience as a game designer
Preferred Qualifications
- Have worked on a third person action melee combat game
- Shipped a AAA title as a combat designer
- Strong technical scripting skills and ability to learn new technologies
