Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Lead Narrative Designer to join our team to work on our newest AAA title. Avalanche Studios is the division dedicated to ambitious, externally published, AAA open-world games like the Just Cause series, Mad Max and Rage 2.
The Lead Narrative Designer is responsible for overseeing the narrative features and content of the game while leading and developing a team of narrative designers. You will play a crucial role in shaping our story and mission content, along with managing voice-over design and production.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the Creative/Narrative Director, other game Leads, Game Designers, World Designers, Producers, and other key stakeholders to design the narrative elements of our content, effectively conveying the team’s vision for the game’s narrative.
You will work to uphold the narrative vision as well as plan, organize and help execute the implementation of Narrative elements. Responsibilities also include reviewing contributions made by team members, and also implementing narrative content, including storylines, dialogue, cut-scenes, and voice-over.
What you 'll do?
- Collaborate closely with and ensure the Creative/Narrative Director’s vision is realized.
- Utilize your experience and knowledge to guide team members towards creating quality and efficient delivery of narrative designs that are aligned with the vision of the Narrative Director/Creative Director.
- Help create narrative systems that can support the gameplay and liaison with Lead Designers/Directors on ways that the systems can best serve each other.
- Oversee and manage voice actors and VO sessions, working with appropriate stakeholders.
- Work with production, other team leads, and directors to help create task estimates and schedules for the team.
- Ensure your team participates in standard studio development processes.
- Define good practices and pipelines and ensure they are carried out through regular peer reviews.
- Continually review the narrative design processes to identify potential improvements.
- Mentor and facilitate the growth of team members.
Who you are?
- Substantial experience in leading teams in a narrative role for a AAA game studio.
- Previous experience leading and guiding a team through at least one AAA project’s life cycle.
- An excellent understanding of narrative systems and structures.
- Strong understanding of narrative-related pipelines (VO, cinematics, audio etc.)
- Experience working with voice actors, and VO recording sessions
- Familiarity with common scheduling, task and issue tracking tools (such as Perforce, Jira, etc.).
- Able to create, manage and help track schedules for a team of Narrative Designers.
- Comprehensive working knowledge of applications related to documentation (such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Confluence, etc.).
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Knowledge of narrative design and script writing tools (such as Final Draft, Inkle, Twine, etc.).
- Familiarity with scripting and/or programming tools.
