Netflix Korea seeks an experienced Manager, Korean Originals (Series/Film) to lead development and execution of original content for Korean productions. This role oversees projects creatively, from pitch to delivery, encompassing various genres, languages, and budgets. Responsibilities include collaborating with showrunners, producers, and external teams; managing schedules, workflows, and budgets; building relationships with partners; ensuring smooth project delivery; and mitigating risks. The ideal candidate possesses strong narrative structure sense, creative taste, and risk management skills. They must manage multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate effectively, and maintain strong relationships with industry professionals.

| The Opportunity

Netflix Korea is seeking an experienced Manager, Korean Originals (Series/Film) to lead the development and execution of our original content slate for Korean productions, aimed at a global audience. This role will oversee projects from a creative perspective, guiding them from pitch and development through to final delivery. The position focuses on a broad spectrum of scripted programming across Korea, spanning various genres, languages, and budgets. The Manager will report to the Director of Content - Korea.

A successful candidate will possess a strong sense of narrative structure and regional sensibility, with the ability to guide projects from initial pitch or idea through to final delivery. They should be self-motivated, proactive, and quick-thinking, demonstrating flexibility and thoroughness in managing multiple and diverse responsibilities across various stages of project development. Attention to creative detail must be unwavering. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and the capability to devise solutions that best serve the company's interests. This demanding and fast-paced role requires a proactive and positive thinker, able to exercise sensitivity, good judgment, and initiative while managing a high-volume production slate and collaborating with a diverse range of creative and production partners.

| Key Responsibilities:

Development/Pre-Production/Setup of Show:

  • Collaborate closely with showrunners, producers, writers, and external creative teams to develop projects and evaluate their long-term viability, demonstrating strong creative taste and insight.

  • Work with Finance, Legal, Business Affairs, Product, Post-Production, and external production teams to establish key schedules, workflows, and budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources to maximize on-screen value.

  • Build and maintain proactive, beneficial relationships with a diverse range of producing partners and third parties.

Execution of Shows:

  • Lead the execution of shows, working with internal cross-functional partners such as Content Strategy & Analysis, Production, Post-Production, VFX, Marketing, and Publicity to ensure smooth project delivery.

  • Manage and mitigate risks associated with project execution, ensuring that creative and business objectives are met.

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with creators, producers, and industry professionals, leveraging these connections to source and commission exceptional content that aligns with Netflix's goals and benefits our members.

Creative Insight and Packaging:

  • Apply a good sense of creative taste and balanced objectivity to guide show development. Use creative insights to effectively collaborate with producers and package compelling ATL (Above The Line) and BTL (Below The Line) elements.

  • Demonstrate an audience-centric mindset and a commitment to balancing business goals with creative aspirations, ensuring alignment with the overall content slate strategy.

| Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in long-form production executive management, either in the field or at a network/studio level for series

  • Strong sense of narrative structure and creative taste that is member-centric and objective. Ability to apply creative insights to develop and package compelling content

  • Experience in managing creative and business aspects to balance goals and aspirations

  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with creators, producers, and industry professionals in a proactive manner

  • Excellent risk management skills with the ability to address challenges effectively while maintaining a focus on creative and business objectives

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of production in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong prioritization skills and effective communication abilities

  • Team player with experience working in a high-volume, team-oriented setting

  • Demonstrated XF leadership and collaboration skills

  • Willingness to continue learning and staying current with production processes and technology. Ability to take educated risks and think creatively

  • Ability to handle confidential information discreetly.

  • Fluency in English and Korean is required
