As a Motion Graphics Artist at Riot, you'll take the player experience to the next level by creating high-quality motion graphics for our gameplay and systems. Your technical skill for motion and compositing will breathe life into the game, transforming static scenes into powerful moments for players. You will collaborate with other artists and designers to establish how assets and UI elements will respond, transition, and increase player immersion.

As a Motion Graphics Artist on Teamfight Tactics, you will contribute to in-game and around-game aspects of Teamfight Tactics's UI. You will craft animatics, design eye-catching transitions / interactive states, and visualize full motion user flows in a variety of tools like After Effects, Spine, and new tools like Riot’s proprietary League game engine. You will work alongside an Art Director and Principal Artists in the motion graphics craft to translate designs into real-time executions by working directly in our game engine. Performance and optimization are top of mind as you push for the highest visual quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Create UI animatics out of static visual designs, following the Teamfight Tactics and League of Legends quality, style and motion conventions
  • Work closely with the Visual Design lead and UI team to support in and around-game features
  • Implement your animations in the most efficient way, carefully balancing performance and visual quality for our range of supported PC and Mobile devices
  • Collaborate with a team of UX, Audio, Visual Design and Engineering experts to design + bring new UI to life
  • Represent the motion graphics craft on the team by informing planning / scoping sessions that help make our visions become reality
  • Reinforce the product's goals by breathing life into the player experience
  • Balance craft and product feedback with a strong empathy and focus on player value

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a computer science, engineering, or related degree program
  • Graduating during the 2026 calendar year
  • Available to work full-time hours for the 12 week internship duration
  • Eligible to work in the country that you reside in during this remote program
  • Animation experience in After Effects with plugins like Trapcode, Element, and DUIK
  • Experienced with Photoshop
  • Knowledge of best practices for optimized implementation

Desired Qualifications:

  • Comfortable working in game engines like Unity or Unreal
  • Experience with Lottie (After Effects)
  • Experience with VFX authoring tools
  • Familiarity with Figma
  • Familiarity with 3D software (Blender, C4D, Maya)
  • Knowledge of League of Legends / Teamfight Tactics IP and style
