Job Description

This contract Packaging Designer position at Spin Master is a hybrid role, 70% focused on execution and 30% on new brand concepts and extensions. The designer will be the main point of contact for 2-3 licensed brands, managing package design from concept to production. Responsibilities include creating packaging design concepts aligned with brand strategy, developing final artwork, managing project timelines, adhering to approval procedures, collaborating with cross-functional teams (Structural Engineering, Marketing, Quality Control, Product Development, overseas agents), and staying updated on industry technologies. The role requires advanced skills in Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat Pro, with basic Excel and Outlook knowledge. Conceptual drawing and manual illustration skills are a plus.

Experience in consumer products (toy packaging preferred)

Job Description:

What will you work on?

This packaging designer position is 70% execution and 30% new brand concept and other brand extensions. This role will often support the Art Director and Creative Director. This person usually becomes the main point person for that particular Licensed brand. This person in this role is generally responsible for package design through production on 2 to 3 core Licensed brands 70% of the time and works on other brands and / or new brand concepts 30% of the time.

How will you create impact?

Working under the direction of the Art Director and Creative Director of Packaging, you will create packaging design concepts that support brand strategy.
Create final artwork and ensure integrity of production deliverables relating to packaging and instructions.
Manage the timelines of the projects assigned to you.
Follow established approval procedures and protocols.
Maintain a consistent high level of quality, thoroughness and attention to detail.
Effectively communicate all project related progress/issues or concerns to the Art Director in a timely and professional manner.
Solicit creative direction from the Art Director in a timely manner.
Collaborate with Structural Engineering, Marketing, Quality Control and Product Development teams as well as overseas agents, as necessary, in the package development and approval process.
Maintain knowledge of new technologies within your area of expertise.

What are your skills and experience?

Experience in the consumer products industry; toy package design preferred.
Advanced knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat PRO.
Basic knowledge of Excel and Outlook
Heightened creative and technical abilities including conceptual drawing, and manual illustration a plus.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $75,000 to $85,000 Per Annum. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc. Spin Master Inc. is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work only in other states.
