The Principal System Integration Architect will lead the design and coordination of complex integration activities within a multi-stakeholder Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) environment. This role involves ensuring seamless, scalable, and secure integration across various customer channels, transport operators, payment providers, and government transport agencies. The architect will collaborate with internal technical teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders, defining and maintaining end-to-end system integration architecture, managing integration interfaces, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements, leading issue resolution, and contributing to design authority and governance forums. This role requires expertise in system architecture, ABT solutions, API management, and strong communication skills.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of system architecture experience.
  • Experience in transport, ticketing, or payment systems.
  • Understanding of ABT solutions and payments.
  • Proven record of managing integration.
  • Hands-on experience with API management and security protocols.
  • Strong documentation skills using UML, BPMN, and architectural diagrams.
Good to have:
  • Familiarity with standards such as ITxPT, GTFS, GBFS, and NTS.
  • TOGAF, ArchiMate, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • AWS/Azure Solution Architect certifications.
  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner.

The Senior Systems Engineer / Systems Integration Architect is a fully qualified practitioner, providing advanced technical leadership and systems engineering management for the design, development, and integration of complex hardware and software systems. Using in-depth professional knowledge and experience, this role will oversee complex issues, developing solutions in creative and effective ways. The Senior Systems Engineer will guide projects through the entire system lifecycle, ensuring alignment with customer needs and company objectives. Additionally, this role requires the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders while adapting communication styles to complex organizational challenges.

Job Details:

An experienced System Integration (SI) Architect to lead the design and coordination of complex integration activities across a multi-stakeholder Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) environment. This role plays a pivotal part in delivering seamless, scalable, and secure integration across customer channels, transport operators, payment providers, and government transport agencies. You will work closely with internal technical teams, third-party vendors, and stakeholders to ensure architectural integrity and smooth delivery of end-to-end solutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Integration Architecture: Define and maintain end-to-end system integration architecture across multiple systems and domains, including CRM, ERP, fare calculation, revenue apportionment, and payment gateways.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with transport authorities, fare media suppliers, device manufacturers, contact centre providers, and system operators to align integration interfaces and APIs.
  • Standards and Compliance: Ensure integration patterns comply with security, PCI-DSS, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide solution teams and third parties through interface design, mapping, orchestration, and data exchange models (REST, SOAP, file-based, etc.).
  • Interface Specifications: Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), sequence diagrams, and data flow mappings.
  • Issue Resolution: Lead the triage and resolution of integration issues across test and production environments.
  • Change Control: Assess impact of change requests on the integration architecture and contribute to design authority and governance forums.
  • Tooling and Environment: Oversee the setup of integration environments and coordinate test data preparation and stubs/mocks where needed.
  • Future-Proofing: Build with obsolescence, scalability, and modularity in mind to enable future enhancements and ecosystem expansion.

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in system architecture, with a strong focus on system integration in complex environments.
  • Prior experience in transport, ticketing, fare collection, or payment systems strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of ABT solutions, customer account lifecycle, tokenised payments, tap data processing, trip/journey construction, and settlement.
  • Proven track record in defining and managing integration between multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with API management, middleware platforms, and security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, TLS).
  • Strong documentation skills using UML, BPMN, and architectural diagrams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with standards such as ITxPT, GTFS, GBFS, and NTS preferred.

Desirable Certifications:

  • TOGAF, ArchiMate, or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • AWS/Azure Solution Architect certifications.
  • ITIL Foundation or Practitioner.
