Job Description

People Can Fly seeks an AI Programmer to implement game features, collaborate with senior developers, integrate shared components, and participate in code reviews. Responsibilities include working on NPC behaviors across multiple disciplines, iterating with the design team, creating tools and features, testing and optimizing implementations, maintaining the Unreal Engine AI framework, and tracking work in production systems. The role requires proficiency in C++, 3D math, and AI algorithms, along with experience in performance measurement and optimization. Project Maverick, an unannounced AAA action-adventure game, is the focus of this role.

Project Maverick is a yet unannounced AAA action-adventure game developed by our North American team supported by PCF’s European studios.

Job Description

Fonctions principales:

  • Implémenter les tâches et fonctionnalités de manière efficace avec un minimum de support de la part des programmeurs plus expérimentés
  • Collaborer avec des développeurs plus expérimentés pour décomposer les tâches, mettre à jour les progrès, poser des questions et signaler des problèmes au besoin
  • Collaborer avec la structure PCF pour intégrer des composants partagés et améliorer la stabilité/les fonctionnalités des modules partagés
  • Participer à des revues de code pour partager des connaissances et apprendre des autres membres de l'équipe
  • Créer de la documentation selon les normes de l'équipe

IA - Intelligence artificielle

  • Travailler sur plusieurs disciplines liées aux comportements d'une grande variété de personnages non joueurs (NPC)
  • Collaborer étroitement avec l'équipe de conception et itérer avec elle sur les fonctionnalités du jeu tout en recueillant des commentaires à partir des itérations
  • Créer des outils et fonctionnalités dédiés
  • Tester, déboguer, profiler et optimiser les mises en œuvre
  • Maintenir et étendre le cadre et les outils d'IA existants dans Unreal Engine
  • Concevoir, implémenter dans le moteur et maintenir de nouvelles fonctionnalités d'IA
  • Suivre le travail dans les systèmes de production

    Responsibilities

    Core 
     
  • Implement tasks and features in a timely fashion with minimal support from more  senior programmers
  • Work with more senior developers to breakdown tasks, update progress, ask  questions and raise issues when needed
  • Collaborating with PCF Framework to integrate shared components, and augment  stability/features of shared modules
  • Participate in code reviews to share knowledge and learn from other team  members
  • Create documentation according to Team Standards

AI 

  • Work across multiple disciplines on the behaviors of a large variety of non-player  characters
  • Work closely with the design team and iterate with them game features while  gathering feedback from iterations
  • Create dedicated tools and features
  • Test, debug, profile and optimize implementations
  • Maintain and extend the existing Unreal Engine AI framework and tools. Design, implement into engine and maintain new AI features
  • Track work in production systems

Qualifications

  • 3+ ans d'expérience dans le développement de jeux sur console/PC
  • Participation à la réalisation d'au moins 1 titre au cours du cycle de production
  • Compétences solides en langage de programmation principal (C++), usage fluide
  • Formation solide en mathématiques (mathématiques 3D, matrices, algèbre linéaire)
  • Connaissance de base en physique et mécanique classique
  • Bonne compréhension des algorithmes et des techniques couramment utilisés par les équipes d'IA dans les jeux
  • Expérience en mesure de performances et en optimisation
  • Expérience dans la programmation de certains sujets d'IA du développement de jeu tels que le mouvement, la navigation ou la logique de prise de décision
  • Capacité à écrire un code solide, fiable et efficace
  • Expérience avec les outils de contrôle de source et de revue de code (Swarm, Perforce, Git, etc.).
  • Bonne connaissance de Unreal Engine
  • Compétences solides en communication verbale et écrite en anglais

  • Skilled in performance measurement and optimization techniques
  • Hands-on experience in programming various game development AI topics such as movement, navigation, and decision-making logic
  • Capable of writing robust, efficient, and reliable code
  • Proficient with Source Control and Code Review tools, including Swarm, Perforce, Git, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of Unreal Engine
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

You might have

  • Proficiency in additional programming languages beyond primary expertise
  • Familiarity with Project Management Software such as JIRA, Confluence, etc., with specific expertise in JIRA, Swarm, and Perforce
  • Skills in performance analysis and optimization
  • Understanding of multi-threading concepts and practices
