The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing software testing processes to assess software quality. They will take ownership of code quality through exploratory and manual test scripts. This role involves diagnosing software issues, reporting them, and ensuring they are addressed. The engineer will also create test plans, scripts, and documentation, and contribute to the automation testing framework. Furthermore, the role demands a solid understanding of quality processes, controls, and procedures, with the ability to work collaboratively with development teams and product managers. They will also perform demonstrations of developed software to business representatives, write SQL statements, participates in the creation, development, and maintenance of test strategies and execute security test cases as identified.
Must have:
  • 6-8 years of hands-on experience in software testing.
  • Solid understanding of Agile practices.
  • Experience testing backend systems and business logic.
  • Able to write and execute medium to high level complexity test cases.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
Good to have:
  • Experience with Cucumber, Selenium WebDriver, Java, Jenkins
  • Ability to lead work on small scale continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor junior-level associates.

Job Details

MRI Software looking for an experienced and skilled candidate to join our team as a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer. As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be responsible to assess software quality by designing and implementing software testing processes. You will take ownership of code quality through exploratory and manual test scripts. You will hunt bugs, identify issues, report them, and see that they are dealt with. 

We perceive the Senior QA Engineer as the knowledge bank of the business domain associated with the product(s) you will be working on and shall be the main go-to person for all team members including the developers.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manually test and log issues in various configurations on different databases and platforms of the product .
  • Responsible for diagnosing minor to complex software issues. 
  • Experience with API testing preferred.
  • Re-create defects and identify problem areas to be investigated by the Development team. 
  • Assist in the maintenance of a defect-tracking database of all issues raised relative to the product. 
  • Liaising with the development team, and product managers to provide status updates. 
  • Creation of detailed test plans, test scripts, and procedural documents from functional specs and supporting documents. 
  • Taking full ownership of keeping test documentation fully up to date. 
  • Responsible for following standards for patching fixes within multiple in-house test areas. 
  • Contributor to Automation Testing Framework, by creating and maintaining automation scripts to test the application. 
  • Increase test coverage through Web Services and/or automated UI testing. 
  • First and foremost, a real interest and passion for software testing. 
  • Solid understanding of quality processes, controls, and procedures, and the SDLC 
  • 6+ years of software testing and development experience 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Flexible in your approach and able to adapt to rapid change. 
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership which drives you to find ways to do things better, faster, and more efficiently. 
  • Previous background with Financial and or Property systems is highly desirable. 
  • Experience with agile development practices preferred. 

Manual Testing: 

  • May perform demonstrations of developed software to business representatives. 
  • Participates in the creation, development, and maintenance of test strategies. 
  • Writes more complex SQL statements to assist in solution implementations. 
  • Participates in research of QA solutions and/or tools that provide value to MRI software. 
  • Evaluates and enhances standards, technologies, and approaches in conjunction with senior team members. 
  • Execute security test cases as identified.

Roles & Responsibilities 

Primary: 

  • 6- 8 years of hands-on experience in testing software in a structured QA environment. 
  • Solid understanding of Agile practices. 
  • Specific experience testing backend systems and business logic 
  • Able to write and execute medium to high level complexity test cases and scenarios for API, UI and integrated testing. 
  • Able to write and execute medium to high level complexity queries. 
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts and ability to write low and medium level complexity automated tests. 
  • Excellent communication and organization skills and the ability to work successfully with cross-functional teams. 
  • Must be able to analyze software applications to verify that various products conform to stated requirements. 
  • Collaborates with Product teams to design performance tests by finding features, functions, and services that need to be performance tested and the appropriate user/transaction/data load. 

Secondary: 

  • Ability to lead work on small scale continuous improvement efforts. 
  • Ability and willingness to mentor junior-level associates.  
  • Able to work autonomously requiring little supervision. 
  • Recommends, champions, and implements new processes.
  • Knowledge of formulating SQL queries is essential.
  • Experience with Cucumber, Selenium WebDriver, Java, Jenkins a bonus

EDUCATION  

  • BE/MCA Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related area
