About The Role

Telstra’s in-house creative agency is looking for a strategic Senior Content Planner to lead the development and execution of data-driven, insight-led content campaigns that enhance brand storytelling, maximize creative performance and drive business impact.

The Senior Content Planner is responsible for developing strategic content frameworks across paid social and digital channels. Working closely with marketing leads across consumer, business and enterprise and media partners, this role ensures that our content is rooted in audience insights, highlights channel best-practice, aligned to business objectives, and optimised across the customer journey.

Sitting at the intersection of brand, digital and customer behaviour, the Senior Content Planner will ensure that Telstra’s content performs across multiple touchpoints through structured content planning, messaging strategy and creative performance leanings. The strategist will collaborate with marketing, creative leads, digital and analytics teams to ensure content is optimized for relevance, reach and performance.

Content and Customer Planning

  • Develop creative content frameworks that are performance driven, ensuring alignment with Telstra’s business and marketing goals.
  • Develop journey-based content frameworks that move audiences from awareness to action, ensuring continuity and impact across touchpoints.
  • Identify content gaps across funnel stages and advise on sequencing, creative rhythm, and message progression.
  • Ensure campaign experiences feel connected and deliberate—not fragmented or duplicated across channels and multiple products.

Performance & Data-Driven Creative

  • Work closely with analytics, digital and media teams to understand content performance levers within Telstra’s marketing projects (engagement rates, CTR, dwell time, conversion rates, etc.).
  • Using data to refine messaging, formats and creative execution alongside marketing
  • Leverage audience segmentation to craft a content approach that meets campaign objectives to inspire the creative execution
  • Optimise content for paid media, ensuring that creative is performing across channels as part of integrated campaigns.
  • Lead creative effectiveness reviews, ensuring content is analysed for impact and continuously improved.
  • Work with business and enterprise teams to enhance customer experience through high-performing, strategically crafted content.

Social & Digital Channel Expert

  • Translate media briefs and audience insights into clear, actionable content plans across social platforms in partnership with marketing leads
  • Support to create messaging matrices and content calendars aligned to platform formats and funnel stages.
  • Define the role of platform (e.g. Meta vs LinkedIn vs YouTube) in supporting a campaign’s customer journey and unlock best practice in the day to day.

Innovation & Future-proofing Creative Content

  • Experiment with AI-powered content tools, automation, and predictive analytics to enhance creative effectiveness.
  • Stay ahead of content marketing trends, platform algorithm changes and emerging best practices to ensure Telstra remains at the forefront of digital storytelling.

Relationship Management

  • Foster strong alignment with marketing and strategic leads to ensure priorities are clear to inform briefs and creative solutions.
  • Act as a liaison with campaign partners to ensure brand alignment in an integrated creative environment.
  • Contribute to IHA reports for key metrics against KPIs through Telstra rhythms.
