As a Conversation Designer, you’ll create conversational, voice-forward experiences across multiple surfaces, such as smart speakers, smart displays, auto, and more. You’ll work on multiple projects simultaneously, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and provide feedback and direction to design work. Design work will include understanding product requirements and user context, and you’ll create flows, prompts, and multi-modal interaction patterns. Geo’s mission is to assist people everywhere as they navigate, explore, and get things done in the world. As part of this role, you’ll identify conversation design opportunities across Geo, partner with your product and design team to build experiences and scalable systems, and define experiences beloved by people all over the world.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of conversation design experience in product design or UX
  • Experience in designing and developing conversational experiences for chatbots, voice assistants, or other conversational interfaces
  • Develop sample dialogs, flow diagrams, and prototypes to communicate voice interactions and design ideas.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive voice user interface (VUI) design specifications in collaboration with Engineering and others in User Experience.
  • Evaluate usability and audio consistency of existing dialog flows and recommend design changes.
Good to have:
  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Experience with developing systems for large, complex platforms and multimodal experiences.
  • Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Create guidelines, reference artifacts, and resources for third-party developers to assist in VUI design and prompt writing.
  • Develop and advocate voice user interface design best practices and guidelines to ensure a consistent brand experience for users across Google.

As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
