Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist (Freelance) at BeReal, you will take ownership of product modeling pipelines, contributing to high modeling performance through insightful ideas and initiatives. You'll build and deploy scalable ML systems, adhering to best coding practices. Collaboration is key; you'll engage with various teams, leveraging new ideas and effectively communicating with product managers and stakeholders. Deep data dives to uncover insights and a strong understanding of BeReal's product, strategy, and operations are crucial. You'll support your teammates, sharing knowledge and discoveries. This role requires extensive experience in building machine learning systems and optimizing recommendation algorithms.

Must have:

Extensive experience building ML systems
Strong background in recommendation algorithms
Proficiency in Python, SQL, MLOps
Cloud experience (AWS preferred)
Excellent communication (English & French)

Good to have:

Airflow and DBT experience
Tech startup/scaleup experience
Strong Kaggle achievements

Role

Take ownership of our products modeling pipelines
Contribute to high modeling performance through insightful ideas and initiatives.
Build and deploy quickly scalable ML systems.
Promote good coding practices, rigor and good-quality work.
Engage with colleagues across the company to leverage new ideas and perspectives and demonstrate excellent communication to efficiently cooperate with product managers, teammates and stakeholders.
Deep dive into data to discover relevant insights.
Build a rich understanding of the BeReal product, the company strategy, our products and their fit within the company’s daily operations.
Be a team player by supporting your teammates and sharing with them your knowledge or new discoveries.

Profile

Extensive experience building machine learning systems
Strong background in building and optimizing recommendation algorithms
Extensive experience with Python, SQL and MLOps best practices
Cloud experience needed (ideally AWS but could be another cloud provider)
Airflow and DBT experience is a nice to have
Excellent Communication in English and French mandatory to liaise with both a tech and business audience.
You enjoy working in a team, learning new things, sharing knowledge
Experience in a tech startup/scaleup is a plus
Strong achievements on Kaggle will be valued
