Rec Room is a virtual social app where you play and create games with friends. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer for our Rec Room Studio team to build upon our powerful user generated content tools. Built inside the Unity Editor, Rec Room Studio extends their tools to our users to create richer experiences, spaces, Avatars, and items, furthering the creative potential of our radically cross-platform social UGC app. With Rec Room Studio our creators are limited only by their imagination. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: 

  • Plan, build, and maintain user generated content tools that expand the depth and quality of experiences our creators can author.
  • Consider the user experience and how to provide systems that unshackles their creativity
  • Proactively prototype new ideas and solutions 
  • Use metrics to track feature performance and inform design decisions
  • Contribute creatively to the design process for both the game and editor 
  • Collaborate across teams and disciplines to build great new technology for our players

WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • 5+ years of experience building and shipping production-ready C-family code (e.g. C#, C++)
  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, or a similar game engine
  • Experience with rendering, memory,  or performance optimization
  • Excellent cross-discipline communication skills
  • A constant desire to learn, improve, and help others improve

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE: 

  • Experience extending/adding editor side tools in a modern game engine
  • Experience working with user generated content systems
  • Demonstrated experience writing and optimizing shaders
  • Experience with metrics/telemetry
  • Created a robust 2D or 3D user interface backed by asynchronous data.
  • Optimized 3D game content, especially if cross-platform (mobile, console, VR, PC).

The base pay range for this position is listed below; please note the base pay may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options and, in some cases, a sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. We also offer a full slate of benefits, including flexible vacation, medical, dental vision, life and disability coverage, long-term care insurance, FSA, commuter benefits, a 401(k) plan with company match, and a parental leave program. We also offer some not-so-standard benefits, including equipment, family, and pet care stipends.

Base Pay Range

$165,000 - $200,000 USD
