About the job:
As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you'll lead the technical direction for the AI Studio and Gemini API team, driving strategic planning, road-mapping, and prioritization of key initiatives. You'll build, mentor, and empower a high-performing team of software engineers while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement. You'll oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of robust and scalable AI software systems, ensuring adherence to best practices, code quality, and security standards. You'll partner with product managers, Technical Program Managers (TPMs), researchers, and engineers across Google to deliver successful project outcomes, building relationships to achieve a shared outlook for AI products and services. You'll guide the team in exploring and adopting new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with software development
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role
  • 5 years of experience in a people management role
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Experience in integrating text Large Language Model (LLM), multimodal LLMs, and other machine learning models into diverse training and serving systems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience in integrating text Large Language Model (LLM), multimodal LLMs, and other machine learning models into diverse training and serving systems.
