The Xbox Experiences and Platform team seeks a Software Engineer to build services and tools for unforgettable gaming experiences. You'll work on cloud and console platforms, improving reliability and testability. This involves collaborating on service requirements, architecting solutions, developing design documents, and ensuring adherence to security and compliance standards. Responsibilities include writing high-quality, maintainable code; incorporating feedback loops to monitor performance and usage; and acting as a DRI for service monitoring and maintenance. The role requires expertise in service design, coding, and collaboration to modernize and enhance platform services.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in CS or related field
  • 1+ years experience in coding (C#, Java, Node.js, Python)
  • Design, coding, debugging, problem-solving skills
  • Delivering high-quality work on time

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 1+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, Node.js, or Python 
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • Experience in design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving. 
  • Experience organizing, executing and delivering work as committed, on time and with high quality. 

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python 
  • OR equivalent experience. 
  • Working knowledge of Web and cloud technologies 
  • Knowledge of service design principles    

 

Responsibilities

Our Platform Services Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to work on services and tools that help us build unforgettable experiences for Xbox gamers worldwide. As part of our team, you will build services that power the cloud and console gaming platform and tools that improve reliability and testability of those services. This is a dynamic role that involves both technical expertise, collaborative skills and experience to contribute to the modernization and enhancement of platform services

Responsibilities 

  • Working on services and tools leveraging the latest technologies. 
  • You will collaborate with other team members to determine service requirements. 
  • You will contribute to the architecture of service solutions and create proposals. You will develop design documents for services, determine the technologies that will be leveraged and how they will interact, and ensure that the system architecture meets privacy, security, and compliance requirements and expectations. 
  • You will lead by example, implementing quality code, that is extensible and maintainable. You will ensure coding standards considering diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability when writing and reviewing code. 
  • You will incorporate appropriate continuous feedback loops measuring usage patterns, performance, and other actionable metrics which will ensure the health of APIs, features, and services. 
  • You will act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for our services on rotation. While working on-call you will monitor our services for degradation, downtime, or interruptions to ensure that we maintain our Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and to identify areas to improve across instrumentation, metrics, alerting, and livesite processes.
