Join a versatile team driving innovation in Audio and Movie technologies within Frostbite. Reporting to the Engineering Manager of Frostbite Audio and Movie, you will work with domain experts that are passionate about developing the very best audio and movie tools and runtime technologies within the games industry. You will help develop a broad range of features and capabilities, including sound effects, speech systems, content encoding/decoding, DSP plugins, interactive music, video compression and more! You will work with game studios throughout EA to tackle challenges across a broad range of genres and the results of your work will have an impact on the final quality of games enjoyed by millions of players.
Responsibilities:
Help develop industry-leading audio and movie solutions
Design, implement, test, and debug code specifically in the Audio and Movie technologies
Support our Game Content Creators and Software Engineers.
Qualifications:
High level of proficiency in C++ with at least 4 years of experience
Working knowledge of C#
Expert knowledge in writing high-performance, memory efficient, multithreaded code.
Experience using industry-recognized practices like unit testing, dependency injection, continuous integration and delivery.
Experience working in a collaborative team environment
Desirable Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science
5 years of professional experience, specifically desktop application development
Knowledge of WPF and familiarity with concepts related to tool development, such as the MVVM pattern and S.O.L.I.D principles
Professional or recreational experience with audio or movie software development (E.g. sound effects, DSP, interactive music, speech, video compression, image processing)
Game industry experience, either with a central technology team or with a game studio
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
BASE SALARY RANGES
British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria)
$96,400 - $133,900 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
