The Sr. System and Network Administrator plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing IT infrastructure. This position is responsible for managing and optimizing our systems and networks, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and efficient. The role requires expertise in system administration, network management, and cybersecurity, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving, commitment to service delivery and continuous improvement. Role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams, provide mentorship to junior IT staff, and support the overall business objectives of delivering robust and secure IT services.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-based server infrastructure.
  • Manage Windows and Linux servers, monitor performance, and address issues.
  • Perform OS updates, patches, backups, and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Maintain storage solutions (e.g., NAS), door access control, CCTV, and production systems.
  • Manage virtualization solutions (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.

Network Administration:

  • Design and implement network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN) with VLAN, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Manage and maintain network equipment (firewalls, routers, switches, WiFi access points) and ensure physical security.
  • Log configuration changes via Change Management.
  • Support and troubleshoot network topologies, perform packet analysis, and maintain network documentation.

Backup Administration:

  • Develop and manage backup strategies for critical systems and data.
  • Perform regular backups, ensure data integrity, and manage storage capacities.
  • Conduct data recovery operations and validate backup procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of restore procedures, collaborate on disaster recovery plans, and audit backup processes.
  • Troubleshoot backup issues and implement security measures.

Security Management:

  • Maintain and update local IT security policies.
  • Implement and manage security policies, ensure compliance, and respond to security incidents.
  • Deploy patches and updates across various platforms and work with vendor licensing audits.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Support end-users, resolve technical issues, and collaborate with other departments.
  • Update assigned tickets daily and participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Manage inventory of all servers, network, and storage devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification.
  • 10+ years in IT support.
  • 7+ years hands-on experience with:
    • Cisco SMB Switches, Ubiquity Unifi WIFI
    • Watchguard Firebox (firewall, VPN, certificates)
    • NAS/SAN systems, VMware ESXi/HyperV (P2V migration)
    • Linux/Windows servers, Veeam Backup
    • FTP, Samba, AAD, Active Directory, Bitlocker
  • 5+ years with cloud platforms (SaaS):
    • Google Gsuite, Microsoft Azure AAD, Intune
    • ManageEngine, EDR Crowdstrike, Nessus

Highly Desirable:

  • Microsoft Azure AD, PowerShell scripting, Active Directory.
  • Web application proxies, databases, LDAP, application servers, network/security.
  • Microsoft Domain concepts (trusts, replication, permissions, policies).
  • Identity management (Azure, Office 365).
  • PowerShell scripting, Exchange systems, PKI/certificates.
  • Network management, security, disaster recovery.
  • Microsoft Windows Server, Office applications.
  • Strong analytical/troubleshooting skills.
  • Independent work under pressure.
  • CompTIA A+, N+, ITIL certifications a plus.
