Job Description

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience. Responsibilities include writing technical documentation, creating additional content, organizing existing documentation, identifying documentation gaps, defining documentation requirements, working with engineers to create and update documentation sets, and editing, clarifying, and enhancing documents written by engineers and others.

Must have:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences
Ability to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.

Good to have:

Experience in privacy and security engineering, especially encryption.
Experience in writing for the web.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to understand source code (e.g., Java and Python).
Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
4 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks).

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in privacy and security engineering, especially encryption.
Experience in writing for the web.
Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Ability to understand source code (e.g., Java and Python).
Ability to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.

Responsibilities

Write technical documentation, including overview, how-to guide, user guide, Application Programming Interface (API) reference.
Create additional content such as articles, images, white papers, solutions documents, and product and project-related communications as needed.
Organize existing documentation, identify documentation gaps, and lead new projects.
Define documentation requirements with diverse teams, and work with engineers to create and update documentation sets.
Edit, clarify, and enhance documents written by engineers and others.
