Job Description

Tesla's Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg seeks a Wastewater Engineer to manage and operate wastewater treatment systems. Responsibilities include planning new system start-ups and commissioning, developing operator training programs, integrating safety practices, conducting FMEA and root cause analysis, troubleshooting operational issues, managing system improvement projects, and performing cost analysis. The role requires experience with industrial wastewater treatment, chemical and physical water treatment processes, and proficiency in process engineering skills. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, problem-solving, and data analysis skills and be proficient in technical German and English.

The Role:

The Technical services Team works around the clock on utilities and infrastructure systems to maximize performance and availability. Through a combination of preventative and corrective maintenance they ensure these systems operate as intended, and when they don't, they're returned to service as soon as possible.

This role is specifically tailored to the Gigafactory Berlin waste water treatment operation, previous experience with industrial waste water is preferred. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of chemical and physical water treatment processes.

What You’ll Do

Manage and operate existing water treatment systems including wastewater treatment
Plan start-up and commissioning activities for new systems, expansion and retro-fit projects.
Develop and lead training programs for operators for water systems.
Integrate and standardize best safety practices for all chemical distribution
Understand and apply Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) concepts for incident prevention
Understand and apply root cause failure analysis to problems.
Assist and lead in troubleshooting of system operational issues.
Develop and update water quality monitoring and analysis program. 
Manage system improvement and troubleshooting projects.
Complete monthly system operational cost analysis; drive improvement based on analysis
Responsible for monitoring current system demands and capacity concerns.
Develop and update critical spares, consumables and chemical lists for systems. 
Investigate ways to reduce the cost of operation and maintenance
Coordinate with Environmental team for any compliance issues / improvements
Create and modify standard operating procedures (SOPs), system manuals, Sequence of Operation (SOO) documentation
Incorporate all improvements and best practices into site specifications and standards.

What You’ll Bring

Background in working as a mechanical, chemical and process engineer, maintenance or operation experience in manufacturing environments.
Experience in maintenance management of industrial facilities and utilities.
Thorough understanding of database systems, and data analytics
Must possess process engineering skills (process development/improvement, troubleshooting, data analysis, constraint analysis, flow optimization, root cause analysis, etc.)
Good understanding of process controls, part variation, manufacturability, process design, process validation, assembly methods, and cost reduction methodologies.
Basic understanding of PLC systems and programmable logic.
Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Proficient in technical German and English is mandatory. Further Languages are of advantage.
Strong relationship management and communication skills.
Experienced with Microsoft packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint and MS Project).
