SOFTGAMES seeks a Unity Game Artist for a fully remote role to contribute to a new blast puzzle game in the prototyping phase. Responsibilities include designing and creating UI components for core gameplay, collaborating with designers and developers, creating high-quality animations and VFX, maintaining visual consistency, optimizing assets, and documenting style guides. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in game art (preferably puzzle games), a strong portfolio showcasing skills in creating game assets and UI components, proficiency in Unity and relevant software (Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma), and a passion for casual games.
Must have:
  • Proven experience as a Game Artist (at least 1 shipped game)

  • Understanding of color theory, composition
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job description

SOFTGAMES is looking for a talented and passionate Unity Game Artist - Fully Remote to join our remote team and help bring our new Blast puzzle game to life, currently in the prototyping phase. In this role, you’ll use your artistic expertise and creativity to craft a stunning visual experience, with a strong focus on clear, polished UI design and engaging game art for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game elements. Experience in VFX and animation is a strong plus!

Qualified applicants will be expected to complete a graphics test.

Your role…

  • Designing and creating visually appealing and user-friendly UI components for core gameplay including puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and user interface (UI) components, for core gameplay, in-game events, and meta-game features.

  • Collaborating closely with game designers and developers to ensure seamless integration of visual elements.

  • Creating high-quality animations and visual effects to enhance gameplay and user experience.

  • Maintaining consistency in visual style, ensuring assets are polished and aligned with the game’s overall aesthetic.

  • Optimizing assets for performance without compromising visual quality.

  • Providing creative solutions to design challenges and iterate based on feedback from the team.

  • Documenting and maintaining style guides for UI and visual elements to ensure cohesive design across all game components.

Your profile…

  • Proven experience as a Game Artist, with a focus on casual (preferably puzzle) games, with at least 1 shipped game.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing your skills in creating game assets, including blast or any match puzzle elements, boosters, blockers, and UI components.

  • Fully proficient working with Unity

  • Proficiency in digital painting and illustration software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma.

  • Solid understanding of color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to take direction and constructive feedback.

  • Passion for casual games and a keen eye for engaging visual design.
